Normandy Schools Collaborative is seeking an Assistant Principal reporting to the Principal. The Assistant Principal will provide assistance to the overall leadership at assigned campus. The Assistant Principal (AP) will support the supervision of the daily operations of the school. The duties include working with other school district officials, state education officials, and teachers to establish and implement academic goals and curricula. The AP will also be responsible for making sure that student achievement is improved and that other key NSC objectives are met.
The AP is to support the chief administrator of the school in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member. The AP will also support a culture that demonstrates Normandy's Five Pillars (Accountability, Collaboration, Professionalism, Respect, and Trust).
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Participates in the selection of personnel assigned to the school.
- Provides for supervision and management for the instructional program.
- Implement board policies, administrative rules and regulations as it relates to the school.
- Communicate the vision of the instructional program to students, staff and community.
- Provide meaningful professional development for the staff.
- Promote and maintain a positive school climate.
- Administers the school’s budget in order to meet the needs of the school.
- Prepares such reports as may be required.
- Provide for effective day to day operation of the school.
- Responsible for the evaluation of all staff members assigned to the building.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Promote and maintain appropriate student behavior in accordance with the unified discipline code.
- Provides effective instructional and curricular leadership.
- Exerts leadership in the adaptation of the general program of education approved for the schools to meet the needs of the community served.
Position Requirements:
- Administrator’s Certificate appropriate for the Principal’s position or the ability to acquire it
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
Qualifications:
- Possess knowledge of integrating technology into the teaching/learning process
- Ability to develop short and long range plans to improve student achievement
- Management skills and demonstrated ability in planning, organizing, task completion and decision making
- Oral and written communication skills
- Administrative experience as Principal, Assistant Principal, or Dean of Instruction preferred. Additional leadership experience on the campus or otherwise is essential
- Three (3) years of school teaching experience preferred
- Experience in a multi-cultural school population
- Ability to work with and galvanize a school team
- Knowledge of student assessment and how to use the data in planning for improvement of instruction
- Experience with curriculum development and curriculum design
