Job Overview
The Teacher, CTE: DOI will plan and implement an instructional program and provide related educational services for students in assigned grade levels.The incumbent will manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify/control instructional activities as required.Instructional delivery will provide students with real world experiences relevant to the industry today. Any teacher who will coach a UIL sport will also provide athletic services related to that athletic sport and the athletic program.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Classroom Instruction and Student Management

• Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
• Maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes
• Ensure classroom and/or instructional environment is attractive, beneficial, safe and conducive to learning while ensuring materials are accessible to students and in good condition
• Assist and participate in the management of student behavior in instructional settings, including school grounds, centers, and work sites, to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process; intervene to control and modify disruptive behavior, reporting to appropriate administrator
• Utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
• Plan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities including determination of appropriate level of materials
• Assess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes and provide instruction to grow student abilities
• Implement an instructional program which provides appropriate learning experiences, considering different learning styles and a range of learning curves

Program Facilitation

• Maintain timely and accurate budget and accountability reports
• Maintain safety in classrooms
• Maintain accurate annual asset inventory reports

Communication and Collaboration

• Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student(s) progress
• Request assistance and work with resource personnel to ensure student growth
• Collaborate with other professionals, including counselors and librarians, to carry out school-wide instructional or related activities
• Support and/or participate in school-wide student activities and social events and approved fund raising activities
• Assign work and supervise instructional assistants, parent, and student volunteers, as needed
• Communicate regularly with students on instructional expectations and keep them informed of their progress

Professional Growth

• Maintain current certifications and licenses
• Stay abreast of current industry standards
• Actively participate in professional learning, staff development, in-service activities and staff meetings

If the position is tied to coaching a UIL sport, the following essential duties and responsibilities are applicable to coaching:

• Communicate with the Athletic Department on a regular basis
• Assist the Athletic Department with budget, schedules, care/use of facilities
• Possess knowledge and adheres to UIL rules and regulations
• Perform coaching duties as assigned as well as other duties required for the smooth, efficient operation of a successful athletic program

Qualification Requirements

• Valid Texas Drivers License
• Proven ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives including the needs and abilities of students
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents
• Associate's Degree in appropriate field including course work in the subject or program to which assigned
• Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate technology equipment and software programs
• Minimum of 1 year Wage earning experience relating to teaching assignment
• Current and valid industry licensure(s) appropriate for teaching assignment
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty
• Required Compliance Training
• Three or more years wage earning work experience related to specific teaching assignment may substitute for degree requirements
• Coaching experience preferred if coaching a UIL sport
• Valid Driver's license with CDL Certification preferred if coaching a UIL sport
