Job Summary:

The Assistant Front Office Manager will be responsible for the daily management of the front office operations including front desk, night audit, bell and valet. In addition the person in this role will provide guidance and leadership to the front office staff ensuring consistent quality customer service is delivered. The Assistant Front Office Manager will resolve customer complications and complaints by conducting thorough research of the situation and determining the most effective solutions. They will make decisions and take action based on good judgment and resort standards. This position will assign and instruct front office employees in details of work, observe performance and encourage adherence to standard procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with Front Office management team to resolve and recover any guest opportunities within the Lodging Division. Provide follow up for all guest complaints and act as a representative of Mountain Thunder to ensure extraordinary guest experiences.
  • Ensure that proper safety, and security procedures are followed by all staff.
  • Evaluate and monitor procedural processes daily to ensure standard methodologies within operations at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Prepare and analyze various administrative and operations reports as related to Lodging Front Office departments. Prepare and process purchase orders for supplies, uniforms, equipment, and any necessary items for day to day operations.
  • Facilitate effective and regular communication with other departments or company personnel (housekeeping, reservations, maintenance, accounting, etc.) to plan, coordinate, and evaluate activities, services, and events, policies, procedures, exchange information, resolve problems and ensure standards are being followed.
  • Plan, coordinate, supervise, monitor, and evaluate all daily operations of assigned front desk functions including front desk, guest check-in and out, PBX, reservations and group room coordination.
  • Provide direction, motivation, and encouragement to Lodging Front Office members and ensures proper development and progress is made for employees seeking long-term employment with Vail. Provide mentorship to the team to promote empowerment, growth, and retention.
  • Consistently provide outstanding service and outstanding experiences to our guests and employees. Adhere to and uphold Vail Resorts and Mountain Thunder Lodge standards.
  • Exercise full supervisory authority, directly, and indirectly, over front desk employees. Plan and conduct staff training programs. Confer regularly with staff to plan and coordinate activities, assign and review work, resolve problems, etc. Plan staffing needs and work schedules. Prepare time sheets and payroll records.


Job Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to revise procedural processes and think creatively to improve operations regularly
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office System to build sophisticated reporting and analytical methods
  • Two years related experience and/or training or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired or associates degree or higher in a related field.
  • Ability to write and interpret routine reports and provide critical feedback as required
  • Ability to maintain composure and focus within a fast paced, constantly changing work environment
  • Ability to type proficiently and ability to complete work at a computer station.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs


The budgeted range starts at $52,000 - $59,660. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
