Assistant Director, Retail Operations Process Management

Headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, DriveTime is the largest privately owned used car sales and finance company in the country (yes, we are THAT good)! With more than 140 dealerships, 3 operations centers and 15 reconditioning centers across the nation, our 4,000+ employees are focused on getting the right customer in the right car, at the right terms. With over 25 years of industry experience, and our dedication to streamlining the purchase process, we're redefining what it means to buy and finance a used car.
As focused as we are on our customer, we take that same focus on finding the right talent for the right opportunities within our organization. All across the nation, from our Home Office and operations centers to our retail locations and reconditioning centers, we are looking for talented individuals like yourself to join our ever-growing team!

That’s Nice, But What’s the Job?
In short, as an Assistant Director of Retail Operations Process Management you and your team drive continuous improvement by defining and owning all phases of the process and product life cycle from ideation to implementation. You will partner with cross-functional teams to revolutionize the car buying experience by improving our enterprise processes and systems in our retail dealerships. You’ll lead the identification and valuation of opportunities and problems, determining root causes, identifying gaps and countermeasures, and lead the implementation of process and product solutions that drive strategic initiatives at our retail locations. All along the way you’re communicating and aligning product development with business stakeholders and ensuring the strategy and roadmaps align with the organization’s goals.

In long, our Assistant Director, Retail Operations Process Management team is responsible for:
  • Owning feature creation and delivery to the implementation team, while building a prioritized feature backlog
  • Analyzing whether to buy, build, or partner to complete the solution to solve business problems
  • Establishing schedules, guidelines, and procedures and determining the most effective way to deliver a complete solution to an identified problem
  • Leading a team of Process and/or Product Analysts to improve operational efficiencies and product enhancements
  • Proposing roadmap strategies, tradeoff/risk assessments, and owning project definition
  • Product vision and ownership of the process and product life cycle including taking projects from ideation to innovation; performing gap analysis, leading project valuation, defining business requirements, determining appropriate solution and approach, launch plan creation, and product adoption assessments
  • Explore and propose different solutions for the same problem, situation, or workflow using your knowledge of business requirements
  • Organizing multiple projects at one time that span multiple business units
  • Facilitating and leading discussions with IT, business users, analytics, and vendors to define business requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure efforts are focused on critical needs
  • Researching, compiling, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative information to conclude and communicate well-reasoned decisions
So What Kind of Folks Are We Looking for?
  • Plays well with others. You will be working in a high-functioning team environment. We work together to win together.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to speak and write with confidence, charisma and competence for a wide variety of audiences including the senior leadership team
  • Takes a hold of the wheel. You’ll need to take the initiative and be comfortable doing so.
  • Agile in a fast-past environment. We move quickly. Thriving in an environment that never stops, is a must.
  • People with a passion for continuous process improvements, and experience pursuing operational excellence in business processes by moving projects from ideation through to successful implementation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills. Friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the business.
  • A mind for the details. The ability to focus on the details while not losing sight of the big picture.
  • Rebel with a cause. You are always looking beyond the obvious to strive for continuous improvement.
  • Organization and time management skills in spades. You’ll be handling multiple projects and deadlines that will require you to prioritize then re-prioritize… then… re-prioritize again.

The Specifics
  • Demonstrate experience in developing product roadmaps, creating process flow maps, root cause analysis, new process introduction and change management,
  • Bachelor’s degree required, bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or MBA preferred
  • Advanced problem solving skills
  • Passion for continuous improvement; 7-10 years of process improvement, preferably business process improvement
