Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
To provide leadership and general oversight of day-to-day campus building maintenance and repair by Area Maintenance technicians. To ensure that campus students, faculty, staff and visitors are provided a well maintained environment in which to learn, teach, and work.

To coordinate with other Operations and Maintenance Leadership Staff to ensure maintenance and renewal activities are planned and executed. To coordinate with Facilities Planning and Campus Projects to ensure building system deficiencies are identified and corrected when renovations are planned and executed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.

Experience:
Ten (10) years, with a minimum of five (5) years in a lead/supervisory capacity. Experience must be in construction and/or facility maintenance in a multi-facility complex.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to develop policies and procedures associated with oversight responsibilities of campus facilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of management principles and practices and the ability to apply those principles; knowledge and experience managing all phases of work (planning, estimating, scheduling, budgeting, and inspection); broad knowledge of plumbing and steam distribution trades; broad knowledge of electrical and life safety systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to make independent decisions during emergency situations.
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and University laws, regulations, codes, and procedures regarding applicable trades & safety in the workplace.
  • Ability to use a computer for work communications, including automated work management, email, correspondence, and reports; to assign work and evaluate work performance; to implement disciplinary procedures and to build and maintain effective work relationships with the campus community.
  • General knowledge of University buildings, systems, and procedures.

Additional Certifications:
Although driving a State Vehicle is not a requirement for this position, travel by foot or vehicle may be required from time to time for meetings, deliveries, emergency responses, etc. across campus. If driving a State Vehicle, incumbent must possess and maintain a valid class C Driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than six (6) points.

The hiring salary range is $111,680-$139,600.

Physical Demands
Work is performed in both an office environment and in the field. Incumbent must be able to work in a hazardous environment such as confined spaces, working from heights and other adverse conditions when necessary to inspect and/or provide oversight of activities. Due to the nature of the position, the incumbent will be considered an ESSENTIAL employee, subject to a 24-hour day, 7-day week span of operation.
