Assistant CoachIntercollegiate AthleticsAll Applicants40ExemptImmediatelyExpected to ContinueUT MAIN CAMPUSAssistant Coach is responsible for the duties associated with a Division I Football program including assisting the Head Coach with the following: prospect evaluation, recruiting, training, coaching, competing successfully, student-athlete academic achievement, student-athlete conduct and welfare, compliance with the Governing Athletics Rules and University Rules, scheduling assistance, and the overall effective performance of the program’s student-athletes.

• Represent the Athletics Department and UT Austin at various alumni, donor, and departmental functions/events.
• Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach with prospective student-athlete recruiting, including recruiting contacts, evaluations, official visits, telephone calls and other communications, and any travel-related activities of prospective student-athletes.

Always act ethically. Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program. Actively participate in assigned education and training programs. Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Big 12, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Big 12 Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation. In compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and Texas Education Code Sec. 51.252, this position may be a Non-Confidential Employee as defined by University policies on Sex Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Interpersonal Violence and Stalking. As a Non-Confidential Employee, individuals employed in this position will report incidents of such prohibited conduct to the University’s Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Title IX Coordinator as required by applicable law or University policy. • Assistant Coach will perform certain services in connection with football camps and clinics as may be assigned by the Head Coach.
• Assistant Coach will be responsible for customary assistant coach coaching decisions including, without limitation, assisting the Head Coach upon his request with the systems and strategies used on the field (both in practice and actual game play), planning practice schedules and training schedules, selection of team members, position assignment of players, scouting the opponent, breaking down video, and all other matters relating to the preparation, practice for, and playing of games.

• Class "C" Operator's Driver's License.
• If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
• Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence.

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Staff who are promotion/transfer eligible may apply for positions without supervisor approval.The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
