Job Description
Who We Are:
Job Title: Assistant Athletics Director
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary: Works directly with the Athletics Director to ensure day-to-day oversight and coordination of all Academy sports programs. Acts as the liaison between the Athletics Director and various coaches and support staff. Projects a professional and positive image in all interactions.
This position requires a thorough understanding of a campus athletics environment, and a passion for excelling in that environment. This person must exercise independent judgment, as well as the ability to interface and work with staff at all levels of the organization.
Position Responsibilities
  • Monitor student-athlete retention and suggest potential program enhancements.
  • Assist Athletics Director in development and updating of candidate pools for various Academy positions.
  • Collaborate with CFO and Accounting staff on the development and management of budgets.
  • Monitor current and proposed legislation for impact on the Academy, and coordinate compliance issues and communications between Director of Compliance and sports.
  • Develop, administer and analyze customer and staff surveys and recommend program improvements.
  • Research financial aid issues for Athletics Director.
  • Monitor college recruitment and placement services by sports staff.
  • Assist Athletics Director in ensuring that all sport program delivery is consistent with the Academy’s vision, mission and philosophy.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes, and all rules of governing agencies including NCAA and FHSAA.
  • Monitor curriculum development for sport programs and coaches’ education programs.
  • Assist in development and implementation of the Academy’s strategic plan.
  • Coordinate external relations initiatives with Advancement staff.
  • Monitor international sport development and participation trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with HR on planning and delivery of professional development programs.
  • Lead various research projects, analyze information and compile findings to enhance decision-making by management.
  • Coordinate scheduling of shared facilities and assist in planning of new facilities.
  • Act as liaison from Athletics Director to Business Managers, Advisors & other staff.
  • Coordinate game scheduling with Sport Directors and Business Managers of all sports.
  • Monitor all facilities and coordinate necessary repairs & maintenance with Business Managers and Operations staff.
  • Coordinate apparel budgets and allocations with each sport.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to interface with a variety of audiences
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Proficient with online research
  • Highest level of personal and professional integrity and ethics
  • Commitment to comprehensive excellence
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or sport management
  • Thorough understanding of intercollegiate/interscholastic athletics, college recruitment and the student-athlete experience
  • Strong commitment to student-athletes and their development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional abilities in strategic thinking, sales and marketing
  • Ability to collaborate, build relationships, and communicate positively and professionally with all internal and external constituents
  • Firm commitment to confidentiality and respect for sensitive information
  • A superior work ethic
  • 5+ years management experience
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced organization
Preferred Skills
  • Master’s degree in Business, Sports Management or related field
  • 10+ years management experience
  • Experience as a collegiate student-athlete
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to handle outdoor conditions for a reasonable period of time
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to move around campus including gym, turf, fields, etc.
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40 pounds
