We work hand in hand with the award-winning creative teams that forge those innovative partnerships at Translation (our in-house creative advertising agency).

We are looking for an Artist Operations Specialist to join UnitedMasters! Please note that this role is a Hybrid role: three days in office and two days remote.

What You'll Do

• Process contractual payments for third party vendors according to agreement terms.
• Liaise with the Sync department to address music ownership/licensing questions or concerns and track master side sync income for royalty accounting purposes.
• Track all recoupable expenses for each Exclusive Partner Artist and Joint Venture deal per project.
• Formulate and implement new practices and procedures that support the expansion of the Exclusive Partner Artist offering and Joint Venture business.
• Interpret royalty statements and review with artists/artist teams as needed.
• Communicate high level information and status updates to executive team members regarding licensing, royalty statements, artists’ and artist teams’ concerns/needs, release schedules, etc.
• Maintain the UnitedMasters Exclusive Artist Partners song catalog on a weekly basis as an internal resource and external resource for third party accounting partners.
• Analyze workflows on a consistent basis and propose recommendations to improve efficiency, productivity, and collaboration among teams.
• Reconcile recoupable expenses with the UM finance team on a quarterly basis.
• Prep spreadsheets and other documentation for quarterly and semi-annual royalty statement delivery for Exclusive Artist Partners and Joint Ventures for the US, LatAM, and African markets.
• Maintain a database of artist contact info, music attorneys, managers, publishers, producers, etc.
• Liaise with the legal to address any concerns regarding producer agreements, side artist agreements, label waiver terms, etc.
• Manage and organize documentation required to release singles, EP’s, LP’s including producer agreements, side artist agreements, label waivers, sample clearances, etc.
• Support Head of Artist Operations with the day to day management of operational procedures and workflows within the Artist Services Department.
• Implement updated methods to aggregate information shared by various departments within the UnitedMasters LLC organization including Translation and Stashed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excel/Google Sheets proficient
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Familiarity with music royalty accounting terms
• Relationship building- internal teams and artist teams (artists, managers, attorneys)
• Flexible and adaptable
• Thorough and highly organized
• Monday.com and/or IronClad experience is a plus
• Budgeting and reconciliation
• Previous experience at a music distribution company or record label
• Ability to interpret terms of distribution agreements, producer agreements, music licenses, and other contracts
• Clear and effective communication

Over the last year, UnitedMasters artists have used our platform to land sync deals with major brands including the NBA, ESPN, Overtime Elite, Bose, Warner Brother Studios and in the NBA video game 2k. These deals give them additional money for their work and increase their exposure.

Salary Hiring Range: $65,000 - $80,000

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide (e.g. bonus, stock options, 401(k) match, etc.)

Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors.

The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.

The salary range above is for the NY/CA. As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the salary range could be lower or higher than this if the role is hired in another location.
