Position Summary


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


Under the direction of the Director – Product Engineering, the Applications Engineer closely interfaces with company customers to acquire, organize and analyze customer goals and engine requirements to design and/or revise products meeting customer specifications, requirements and costs, in accordance with company policies and procedures.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following. Other duties may be assigned:


  • Work with customers to ensure products perform to their expectations.
  • The employee performs work related travel as required.
  • Provide program design management from concept through series production.
  • Perform product design analysis, and inspect, analyze and diagnose post tested samples and related systems. Coordinate performance tests and perform failure analysis and design verification.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing to ensure the most cost-effective manufacturability of the product.
  • Act as the technical resource and liaison between the company and its customers to address and resolve inquiries, technical reviews, and problems, provide interpretation of drawings and specifications, and advise of the effect of product features and specification variation.
  • Report the status of piston programs, following departmental procedures.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc.
  • Represent the company to its customers, acquiring, organizing and analyzing customer goals and application requirements.
  • Direct, guide, coordinate and provide technical expertise in the development of product designs that meet customer specifications, production and delivery requirements and cost limitations.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Coordinate with the Account Manager to provide technical data and information to provide timely and accurate quotations.
  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in new developments within the industry.


What Qualifications You Should Have


QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and three to five years of related experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, customer specifications, blueprints, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals and effectively communicate with customers and other employees of the organization is required.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of calculus, algebra, geometry and trigonometry. The ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations is required.


REASONING ABILITY: The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists is required. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
