Animator I Jobs

The Animator I role at ESPN is responsible for working with existing animation templates and developing skills to create increasingly complex customized animations. Individuals need to work well within a team but also have the skills to be successful when working independently. This is a hands-on position requiring good working knowledge of After Effects, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Illustrator and preferably some familiarity with 3D concepts and software while providing creative support for daily production and long-range assignments.

Responsibilities:

• Expected to develop skills to engineer animation projects for efficient versioning, rendering and archiving
• Translate assignment details and creative direction into visually compelling solutions
• Progressively advance skills in developing customized animations
• Possess strong individual and team communication skills
• Creates and develops graphics for studio shows and remote events including daily show production design
• Able to prioritize multiple assignments and transition between projects easily
• Strong attention to detail, timelines, delivery specifications and established project workflows
• Excellent collaboration skills, receptive to feedback and revision requests
• Utilize existing animation files and elements to create content for ESPN programming

Qualifications:

• Foundational understanding of composition, motion theory, animation and design principles
• Applicants must provide a link to their online portfolio/demo reel
• Able to work flexible hours and onsite as business needs require
• Motivated to proactively learn new software
• Entry Level position requiring basic knowledge of After Effects, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Illustrator
• Strong attention to detail, timelines, delivery specifications and established project workflows
• Able to thrive within a fast-paced team environment and be confident when working independently
• Good overall attitude, receptive to creative & critical feedback, able to smoothly adapt to assignment specifics
• Strong organization, communication and collaboration skills

Basic Qualifications:

• Beginner knowledge of After Effects, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Illustrator, Cinema 4D
• Online portfolio/demo reel
• Ability to work nights, weekends & holidays as assignments require
• This is a Hybrid role requiring a mix of Onsite (Los Angeles, CA) and Remote (Work from Home) work during the week. Candidates must have a reliable work-from-home setup (personal computer with reliable internet connection)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic understanding of Cinema 4D or similar 3D application & an interest in advancing your 3D skillset
• Experience working with clients and creating content within established brand guidelines
• After Effects scripting experience
• Interest in sports and familiarity with ESPN programming
• Prior sports design and/or animation experience in college or comparable work experience

Required Education:

High School Diploma

Preferred Education:

Degree in animation, graphic design, fine arts or related discipline (or comparable work experience)

Additional Information:

This role requires the person to be in the Los Angeles office.

The base salary for this position in Los Angeles, California is $65,412 - $81,765 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
