Animal Research Associate Jobs

We are looking for an highly motivated Animal Research Associate (ARA) to add to our growing team. An ARA will be expected to manipulate, observe and care for genetically altered rodents to prepare them for study. Manipulations can include, breeding, weaning, identification markings, and collecting biopsies for RNA or DNA analysis. Records data pertaining to the above procedures in the Velocigene database. Some husbandry and general maintenance duties may be required.

A typical day in this role looks like:

• Performs certain basic tasks necessary for the processing of genetically altered rodents such as animal identification by marking, breeding, weaning, and collection of tissue samples for DNA or RNA analysis.
• Records essential data in the Velocigene Data Management System.
• Performs a natural history analysis when requested.
• Performs husbandry (cage changing) duties.
• Handles other responsibilities including, but not limited to, the breeding of rodents serving as embryo donors and recipients.
• Performs additional responsibilities related to the packing and shipping of rodents as well as some basic vivarium tasks such as ordering supplies, and general maintenance when needed.

This role may be for you if:

• You have previous work with the handling of laboratory rodents is preferred. The execution of above tasks will be guided by the Velocigene Data Management System and by instruction from the Vivarium manager.

In order to be considered qualified for this role, you must have a minimum of A.A. degree with some biology course work or a minimum of 2 years experience working with laboratory animals preferred.
