Job Description
Guggenheim Securities, the Investment Banking division of Guggenheim Partners, is seeking a Geologist to join our growing Houston Energy Investment Banking team. This role would be fully integrated into our technical and finance team.

Guggenheim Securities’ Energy Investment Banking group provides specialized financial advisory across multiple sub-sectors of Energy including energy transition, upstream, midstream and oil services. Lean deal teams provide exceptional experience and competitive deal flow for incoming candidates.

Essential Job Functions

  • Individual will be joining a technical team of geologists and engineers who work on upstream, midstream, and sustainability M&A and financing transactions
  • Work as a GIS professional for up to 50% of the time
  • Support senior geologists and eventually lead the geology discipline on a given deal team
  • Active member of deal teams comprised of geologists, engineers, and finance professionals
  • Role will involve GIS analysis, well log interpretation, map construction, cross-section analysis, landing zone analysis, case study creation, and building presentations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Role is client facing and the individual should be comfortable speaking in front of groups and have a strong ability to communicate technical views
  • Effective process management abilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Highly organized, with the initiative and ability to work with limited supervision
  • Highly motivated and creative individual to work in a fast-paced environment within the Energy Investment Banking Group

Basic Qualifications

  • Preferred experience of 0 – 4 years
  • Master’s degree in Geology and GPA > 3.5 preferred
  • SIE Exam, Series 79 and Series 63 must be acquired within 150 days of employment

Salary Details

  • Currently, this role is expected to be in the Houston office at least 4 days per week.
  • Base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience.
