Job Description
Job Objective:
Interprets, integrates, and evaluates sub-surface geologic data to develop economic oil and gas investment opportunities in conventional plays for the company.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects corporate assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Constructs hardcopy displays consistent with established company mapping standards.
  • Adheres to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.
  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
  • Interprets and evaluates subsurface geologic data to construct integrated maps, cross sections, and other geologic displays defining subsurface structure, reservoir geometries, net sand and net pay, hydrocarbon pore volume and other essential economically significant interpretations from log, seismic and petrophysical analysis.
  • Supports company vision and mission.
  • Able to integrate multiple data types into coherent interpretation for presentation to senior management.
  • Obtains, manipulates, and interprets computer databases and mapping software.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Uses generated geologic interpretation to document additional exploitation recompletion and workover investment opportunities in areas of known hydrocarbon accumulation, and identify areas of potential hydrocarbon accumulation for infill and exploration drilling investments.
  • Work in an integrated team with a reservoir engineer, operations engineer, and geophysicist to generate and execute rate and reserve addition projects (workovers, recompletions, and new wells)
Qualifications:
  • Preferred: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Ability to integrate and synthesize geologic interpretations to generate economically justified investment opportunities for the company.
  • Project management, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of the role and job responsibilities of Reservoir and Operations Engineers, Landmen, and other company professionals in order to accomplish team goals.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems.
  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Two (2) years minimum experience in geological oil and gas development and/or exploration, and a proven ability to generate multiple investment opportunities.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
    • Required: PETRA or other Geologic database and mapping software.
    • Preferred: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).

  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
Education Requirements:
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree from an accredited university or college with a degree in geology.
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in geology.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Preferred: Membership in the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and local geologic society(ies).
