Class Title




Duties

Work activities may include any combination of the following tasks:


  • Performs other duties as required
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of electrical maintenance safety requirements.
  • Uses specialized electrical and electronic test equipment such as digital volt meters, signal generators, frequency counters and related technical tools.
  • Reads and interprets all types of electrical and electronic schematics.
  • Subject to be on call 24/7.
  • Maintains and calibrates bucket truck operation.
  • Reads and interpret Blueprints
  • Maintains and troubleshoots electrical and electronic equipment and related circuits, including airfield lighting, airfield signage and various navigational aids.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Performs minor mechanical maintenance
  • Maintains job safety standards (personal protection equipment, etc.); complies with City of Shreveport vehicle safety rules. Trains new team members on safe work practices, maintains good communication with team members, as well as Traffic Control Tower operators.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs ground faults on airfield lighting circuits.
  • Troubleshoots, tests, repairs and calibrates electrical and electronic equipment and related systems.
  • Maintains and repairs electrical components, electrical wiring fixtures and equipment.
  • Performs any combination of the following task: troubleshooting electrical malfunctions; testing, repairing and replacing defective components and parts of airfield lighting systems.
  • Demonstrates the ability and desire to work in a team environment within the multi-skilled workforce.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Formal training with a completion certificate from an accredited vocational technical school or higher in the field of electrical equipment or four (4) years of equivalent journeyman level experience in the electrical /electronic maintenance field, preferred.
  • Qualified candidate must have two-year associate degree from an accredited vocational school or higher in lighting technician, a minimum of four years' experience at the journeyman level in the electrical/electronic maintenance field or five years' work experience directly related to the repair of airfield lighting and signage.
  • A combination of education and experience may be utilized.
4. Must possess a valid driver's license at time of hire
5. Must be able to pass a 10 year background check for a commercial airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • May require moderate to extensive stooping. Kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions,
  • Requires the ability to use tools such as a shovel to dig up broken or malfunctioning equipment.
  • May be subject to sitting for prolonged periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
  • Some combination of climbing and balancing,
  • Requires the ability to consistently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Requires the ability to communicate with a 24-hour Air Traffic Control tower in order to maintain safety requirements.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work is performed outdoors and/or indoors with exposure to noise, dirt, grease, dust, pollen, odors wetness, fumes, animals, insects, chemicals, treated/untreated sewer, treated/untreated water and inclement weather.
  • Will be exposed to machinery with moving parts requiring use of protective devises and computer screens.


TRAVEL:
Travel will be required locally from location to location to accomplish job assignments and visit job sites.
