Administrator - Ui Youth Ballet & Community Dance School

The Department of Dance is seeking an Administrator for the UI Youth Ballet & Community Dance School.

The Department of Dance and the UI Youth Ballet & Community Dance School is looking to fill the position of Administrator UI Youth Ballet & Community Dance School at 75% effort.

The Administrator of the UI Youth Ballet & Community Dance School manages both artistic and administrative functions of the program. This person is responsible for developing and managing the curriculum, hiring and supervising staff, developing and monitoring program budgets, and working with production staff on performances. The Administrator interacts with parents, students, and staff on a daily basis. The person in this role is supervised by the Dance Administrative Specialist in the Department of Dance and may also work closely with the Performing Arts Production Manager and other members of the Performing Arts at Iowa staff. The UIYB & Community Dance School offers courses for both children and adults and currently serves over 200 students per semester.

Key Responsibilities

• Research events and performance trends, preview performances and create collaborative programming opportunities.
• Assist with budget development and monitoring.
• Program content of classes, camps, and events.
• Manage mentoring and training opportunities for new staff members with the assistance of senior staff members.
• Maintain records, file reports and comply with external and internal regulations and policies.
• Hire and supervise administrative, musical, and teaching staff by providing direction, assignments, feedback, coaching and counseling to assure outcomes are achieved.
• Interface with public and manage marketing and communications with students and parents.
• Research and curricular and community needs in order to determine program objectives.

Education Required

• BA or BFA in Dance or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required

Education Desired

• MFA in Dance

Required Qualifications

• Some (typically 6 months- 1 year) administrative experience
• 1-3 years studio dance teaching experience with children and adults
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as demonstrated at the working proficiency level
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications

Desired Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of university policies and procedures
