E
ssential Functions and Objectives:
  • Provides full service benefits administration support in establishing, maintaining and updating employee benefit programs for District employees, including health insurance, dental and vision, life and retirement, and wellness plans. Researches and resolves escalated benefit concerns or discrepancies.
  • Establishes and maintains records/files of all insurance program participants; consistently ensures the accuracy, confidentiality and security of all benefit records.
  • Assists in the benefits Open Enrollment process.
  • Composes correspondence, reports, memoranda, meeting agendas and other documents.
  • Works with insurance carriers to resolve employee problems in obtaining benefits.
  • Interprets basic understanding of employee group benefit contracts; escalates specific questions on issues to more senior staff.
  • Administers benefits, including but not limited to: long term disability, life insurance, health insurance, Health Care Flexible Spending Account, dental and vision, Dependent Care Assistance Spending Accounts and Tax Sheltered Annuity programs, and leaves of absence for all eligible employees and retirees.
  • Ensures that programs are carried out in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.
  • Explains and interprets more complex aspects of company insurance programs to employees and dependents.
  • Assesses and gives advice to supervisors and managers on methods and approaches to resolving employee benefit problems; counsels employees and management and resolves potentially sensitive benefit-related questions and problems.
  • Responds to inquiries from both active employees and retirees, verifying eligibility status; interprets employee benefit group contracts and enters benefits data into HRIS system; initiates or responds to inquiries in person, via phone or by email.

K
nowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
  • One (1) plus years of experience in human resources, with benefits administration experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations concerning ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, 401(k)Medicare, FMLA, 403 plans, Flexible Spending Accounts, annuity programs, retiree medical insurance preferred
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office/Google products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Docs. Google Sheets, Google Slides.
  • High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.
  • One (1) plus years of experience with HRIS databases preferred.
  • Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.
  • The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.
  • Works collaboratively with others on a team as well as with District staff at all levels.
