Description


The Child and Family Service (CFS) area of the Health and Human Services department is seeking a creative, organized, energetic, and detail-oriented Intermediate Administrative Assistant to join their team. Under general supervision, this individual will perform a variety of administrative tasks related to the management of CFS operations. This role will collaborate with and assist business partners and leaders regarding the acquisition and retention of new staff coming into the department, have a high level of autonomy, be expected to collaborate with leadership and colleagues, and have result-based accountability.

Location and hours:


This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at various Hennepin County locations and remote as job duties allow. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.


New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In This Position You Will


  • Be responsible for developing solutions that strengthens the effectiveness of new CFS employees while ensuring the solutions reflect department, county, and state initiatives, policies, and regulations.
  • Assist business partners in administrative duties regarding acquisition and retention of new staff coming into the department by utilizing existing technology applications.
  • Coordinate communication within CFS regarding goals and objectives on workforce development, which will include building and maintaining trusting relationships with our division and partners.
  • Effectively manage relationships with various levels of internal and external partners that may include creative facilitation, conflict management, and agreement negotiation.
  • Collaborate with CFS leaders on implementing our work plan addressing retention.
  • Coordinate and manage CFS onboarding experiences to assist with retention. This will include collaborating with leadership at every level of the division to ensure success.
Need to have:
  • Six or more years of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in public administration, business administration, or other field appropriate to the position and two years or more of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.

  • Working in multiple computer applications/systems simultaneously, analyzing real time information, and making decisions in the moment.
  • Using databases and performing data entry where accuracy is essential.
  • Experience:
  • Using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word).
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to:
  • Build and maintain trusting, collaborative, and effective relationships with employees at all levels, customers, and business partners.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including but not limited to, leadership.
  • Learn and utilize new computer applications to meet work objectives.
