TxDOT’s Brownwood District is searching for a Part - time Administrative Assistant I for our District Headquarters in Brownwood, TX! This position would hold a front office presence and perform administrative, office support -related tasks such as: organizing, improving and implementing filing systems and operational databases. This work requires poficiency with computer software, email, and budgets as well as; professional communication and timely responses via phone or email to members of the public, coworkers, safety professionals, mid to high level management and local government stakeholders.
This is a critical role within the District with ample opportunity for advancement within the organization. The ideal candidate needs to be service driven, hardworking, motivated, and willing to jump in and help out where needed.
This is a part - time position with a weekly schedule of: Wednesday 12pm -5pm, Thursday 8am -5pm and Friday 8am -5pm
Salary/ Plan Grade:
A13: $14,719.50 - $23, 194.00/ yearly

Performs administrative office support-related work for department staff and/or the general public. Work requires contact with middle and high-level managers. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties:
- Maintains calendars for department personnel to include scheduling meetings, coordinating and making appointments, and travel arrangements.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
- Prepares and distributes correspondence.
- Maintains and updates office files/records/logs and suspense systems and a wide variety of automated systems in support of personnel, finance, budgeting, inventory, contracts, purchasing, and travel information
- Processes receipts and invoices for payment
- Enters and retrieves data on a computer.
- Answers the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages, and/or serves as receptionist or front desk assistant.
- Delivers and picks up confidential or time sensitive mail/correspondence
- Edits correspondence, reports, forms, and documents for proper format, spelling, grammar, punctuation, typographical errors, syntax, style, sentence structure, content, and clarity
- Creates requisitions, blanket purchase orders, and enters receipts in PeopleSoft in support of the division or district
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
- Sitting - prolonged periods of time
- Standing-prolonged periods of time
- Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
- Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
