Job Description

The Actuarial Technician position is responsible for providing support for calculating, analyzing, reporting, and explaining reserves and other actuarial financial statement items for Life and Annuity products. The individual will provide actuarial support to recurring and special projects. The individual is expected to learn general knowledge of statutory valuation requirements and GAAP guidelines for life and annuity products. The individual is expected to make continuous process improvements and improve process documentation. The Actuarial Technician will learn to run valuation processes and understand income statement, balance sheet, and other actuarial / non-actuarial financial items.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the integrity of valuation model / processes and make continuous process improvements
  • Run monthly / quarterly Stat, GAAP, Tax valuation processes for Life and Annuity in a timely manner
  • Perform controls to ensure accuracy on valuation processes and produce monthly / quarterly reports
  • Perform ad hoc projects as needed
  • Provide support on annual experience studies and external audits
  • Assist in preparing year-end Statutory Financial Statements

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree – mathematics, finance, computer science or related degree preferred
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with a wide range of life insurance and annuity products with actuarial product benefit calculations preferred.
  • Understanding of MS Office suite of applications including very strong Excel skills
  • Strong math, analysis and communications skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience – 0-36 months, in support of financial services preferred

The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
