The Data Analyst works under general supervision to support business data initiatives. They must have excellent analytical skills to interpret and translate data needs across the organization. They may lead various sized efforts and support team members throughout the project lifecycle. They will aide in documenting business and functional requirements and create data mappings for downstream applications. Candidate will be hired based on appropriate level of experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Research, monitor and assess the impact of business changes and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of tables and databases used for statistical reporting, pricing, reserving and analytical analyses.
  • Identify data issues proactively and flag them to respective stakeholders.
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis.
  • Transform business users’ data needs into business and functional requirements.
  • Communicate appropriate and timely status updates to the direct manager and project manager.
  • Assist with data needs (quality assurance, data mapping, data transformation) associated with system migration and other Company goals.
  • Write SQL scripts and queries to extract data.
  • Write and execute test cases, document results, and track defects.
  • Delivers information across the corporate structure effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and work with data engineers to build effective data models.
  • Work with other teams and departments on improving data and value for the organization.
  • Create data mappings and perform data gap analysis for downstream applications.
  • Respond to outside consultants, auditors and vendors regarding statistical and other data questions.
  • Estimate requirement and testing efforts.
Key Requirements:
  • Experience using Agile, Lean or similar methodologies and supporting tools such as JIRA and Confluence is a plus.
  • Ability to identify ahead of time possible consequences and impacts of any changes to processes, storage, applications or reports.
  • Understanding of SQL and Databases.
  • Develop knowledge of business and technical domains to evaluate solutions for the systems they support.
  • Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication and collaboration skills; must be detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Understands the big picture of the business model and can analyze with focus and purpose to transform quality data into an asset.
  • Some knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies.
  • Requires a strong work ethic and a skillset geared toward data management.
  • Solid technical writing foundation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area and 1 plus years of relevant experience.
  • Some knowledge of data conversion and systems integrations.
