The OPPORTUNITY

Leverage your industry expertise and join our expanding team as an Actuarial Analyst. This entry-level role is an excellent opportunity to synthesize your technical skills and business sense toward becoming an actuary. Work alongside a small team of enthusiastic actuaries to gain experience in ratemaking, reserving, reporting, and reinsurance while contributing meaningful work from day one. The Actuarial Analyst will gain exposure to various types of actuarial work, and knowledge of the insurance company through interdepartmental projects and employee initiatives. Because the success of our company is rooted in teamwork, the way we care about the people we work with and serve, this hybrid role will work in our Raleigh office a minimum of two days with the flexibility of remote work three days a week.

Your WORK as an Actuarial Analyst will make a difference by:

• Working with leadership to complete rate reviews and rate filings for all states and lines where Builders Mutual does business
• Creating new analytics tools from trends and profitability monitoring; providing recommendations and generating new processes for understanding company performance
• Extracting and analyzing data from SQL to prepare monthly and ad-hoc reports
• Producing and analyze quarterly loss reserves and financial statement exhibits

Skills to get the JOB done RIGHT:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Actuarial internship in the insurance industry considered a plus
• At least one actuarial exam passed, and desire to attain their ACAS
• Bachelor’s Degree (Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative program preferred)
• Demonstrated interpersonal communication and presentation skills
• Experience with SQL, PowerBI, and/or VBA considered a plus
• Experience with R, Python, and/or PowerShell considered a plus
