Accounting Manager Jobs

Responsibilities

• Perform additional accounting duties as assigned
• Direct and manage professional staff, with thorough understanding of each staff member's responsibilities; recommend necessary changes and improvements
• Work with property management and clients to ensure that all reporting deadlines are met
• Perform detailed review of financial reports, reconciliations and all financial information prepared by accounting and property management staff
• Provide treasury management oversight, disbursement approvals and signatory on bank accounts
• Interface effectively with clients, internal and external auditors, tax preparers and management
• Review and approve bank reconciliations and invoices
• Prepare detailed checklists and other tools to ensure proper recording of financial transactions
• Provide guidance and training in the utilization of assigned real estate accounting software
• Maintain mortgage, property tax and sales tax tracking schedules
• Assist with annual budget preparation with members of property management
• Review and post tenant adjustments
• Hire, train and supervise accounting staff; initiate disciplinary actions and terminations
• Assist in the management of new project takeovers, coordinating the transition with accountants, clients, property management and treasury
• Manage and monitor the activities of the accounting staff, ensuring all policies and procedures are accurately followed.

Requirements

• Demonstrate strong analytical capabilities with high attention to detail
• Advanced knowledge of the escalation and operation expense budgeting and settlement process
• A minimum of 3 years of recent accounting department management
• Advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles; ability to apply GAAP
• Applicable experience in real estate accounting software packages, preferably MRI or Yardi
• A minimum of 5 years of recent third party property management accounting
• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
