Accounting Manager Jobs

Van Metre Companies has an Accounting Manager position available to join our New Homes Accounting team!

In this highly visible role, you will work directly with the Controller and the rest of the team to innovate and streamline accounting procedures. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact within a team that is constantly evolving and working diligently to improve upon the bottom line. You must thrive in a collaborative team environment, as you will work very closely with your teammates daily, as well as banking partners, Van Metre Operations employees and members of the Van Metre Executive Team.

This position has a hybrid work schedule. Candidates will work part of the week remotely, while there will be some in office work. The office location this team will report to is located in Fairfax, VA. This position will also include occasional visits to construction sites in Northern VA, so you can learn more about Van Metre Homes and the business units you will work with, as well as monthly visits to the Broadlands, VA office.

Responsibilities:

This position works closely with various departments to foster open communication with the accounting team and provide key analysis for the operations teams. It involves strong communication skills and task management. In addition, the individual will be responsible for general ledger accounting and reporting. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Analyze budget vs actual variances
• Assist with semi-annual business plans
• Review financial reports in a timely manner
• Prepare as needed special reports and analysis
• Plan weekly projections
• Assist with preparation of audit work papers annually
• Analyze budget vs actual variances
• Review day-to-day journal entries to record General Ledger and Job Cost activities
• Act as a backup to Controller and Vice President of Finance to help with providing real-time financial performance and analysis to Operations
• Review overhead allocations and intercompany transactions
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and accruals/reserves

Requirements:

• 5 years' experience in a position with comparable job duties or public accounting, preferred
• Software skills to include advanced Excel, as well as accounting software (experience with MS Dynamics NAV preferred)
• Experience in the real estate industry, preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, required
