As a leader of the accounting team, it is important to provide staff with a positive, supportive environment in which they can learn the tasks and procedures necessary to meet quality standards. As the Controller, you will lead and manage monthly close process and establish, implement, and monitor appropriate internal controls and policies within the Accounting Department to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and other regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks including conducting technical accounting research related to new products and transactions and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP including the preparation of accounting memos and analysis to support management decisions. Additionally, you will be responsible for leading the monthly management reporting, producing quarterly board reporting, reviewing the monthly variance analysis, and ensuring timely and accurate general ledger account reconciliations. You will participate in the quarterly review and annual audit process and facilitate discussions with the external auditors. You will be responsible for ad hoc projects and participate in cross-functional teams to support various business initiatives and will be expected assess impact and review conclusions with the CAO and CFO.


In addition to managing the general ledger accounting team, the Controller’s umbrella includes the payroll and accounts payable functions. The Controller is responsible for hiring, training and developing new associates including regular coaching conversations, salary administration, and other associate relations tasks. To be successful in this role, you will need to build a great rapport with internal clients and fellow associates, and treat others with respect regardless of their status or position.


All associates are expected to maintain current knowledge and consistent compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures related to the position, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements.


Minimum Requirements: To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications.


  • 3+ years of previous supervisor/management experience
  • 8+ years of experience in accounting, finance or a related field
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Ability to work flexible hours in order to meet urgent deadlines and project timelines
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and public company reporting requirements


Desired Qualifications: To be considered an i deal candidate, you should possess some of the following qualifications:


  • 10+ years of experience in accounting, finance or a related field
  • 5+ years of previous management experience
  • Banking or financial services experience
  • Familiarity with corporate accounting and reporting systems

Work Environment:


  • Must be able to work at a rapid pace for extended periods during quarter-ends
  • Must be able to work overtime to the extent necessary
  • Office setting with traditional hours
