Korn Ferry has been retained by a rapidly growing, private equity backed restaurant group that is looking for a VP Controller. This role will oversee five large sets of financials (parent company and 4 business units) and they will have 10+ direct reports, including 3 business unit controllers and directors in treasury, operational accounting and systems. Our client is one of the leading franchisees for 400+ locations, across 6 brands with more than $450M in revenue and projected/planned growth heading towards $1B. They are extremely acquisitive and have a substantial platform already in place to support their scaling. In addition to overseeing all of the corporate accounting activity, this role will also manage audit processes and work closely with the field teams as well as the private equity partner.

This role will report directly to the CFO, who has a robust and successful career within the restaurant industry. The CFO has worked for large restaurant groups across the country as well as extensive international experience; he will be an incredible mentor for someone looking to grow and develop at the executive level. Our client is likely looking for an IPO in the future and this is an incredible opportunity to be a part of that process at the top of the org chart.

They have a very approachable, dependable, experienced leadership team. A friendly, laid back, fun corporate culture with an open-door policy. They office in far north Dallas with a hybrid (3/2) schedule. The accounting team is incredibly sharp and will be a dream to lead. The foundation and infrastructure for growth is strong and they are looking for someone capable of steering the ship. The role will include much more than simply routine work – they have many complicated, interesting projects outside of the traditional corporate accounting needs. This role will also come with a fantastic work/life balance – expect the typical 40–50-hour week with heavier workloads during quarter/annual close.

We are looking for someone with 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, a CPA is required, and ideally someone who started off their career in public accounting before transitioning into industry. We are looking for someone with primarily restaurant industry experience, however, strong candidates with retail or hospitality may also be considered. We need someone with an executive presence, great communication, proven success and no ego.
