Account Supervisor, Health

We are looking for an Account Supervisor to join our healthcare team, which works with leaders across industry verticals including pharmaceuticals, device, diagnostics, providers, payors, tech and nonprofits. In this role you will act as the dedicated day-to-day lead across several strategic public affairs and communications’ accounts in the vaccines, cardiology, diabetes, and infectious disease space as well as traditional pharmaceutical product marketing communications and hospital system/healthcare provider services/communications’ support. Key to this position will be a passion to learn about how public affairs and communications programs help clients develop new markets. Work will include building relationships with patient and other nonprofit groups, creating advocacy and awareness programs for nonprofits that meet partnership requirements for funders, and a passion to learn about the role policy and reimbursement plays in our clients’ success.


Working in collaboration with account team members, you will be implementing strategic omnichannel communications programs that move the needle for clients. An Account Supervisor demonstrates a commitment to help mentor junior team members to learn new skillsets that will foster a stronger ensemble team effort on all accounts.


This is a hybrid role that requires in office work. Candidates must be within commuting distance of our New York City, Washington D.C., Boston, Chicago or Minneapolis offices.


WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Effectively managing several employees at the intern, AAE or AE levels; delegating assignments and being responsive to issues/concerns/workload of employees supervised while producing high quality work
  • Understanding the monthly pro forma billing process and liaising with accounting to ensure timely completion
  • Actively participating in and contributing to new business efforts
  • Traveling as needed for client meetings and/or media/special events
  • Developing communications programs, budgets, timelines, media matrices for accounts
  • Participating and leading brainstorming meetings and research in helping to develop client marketing programs
  • Manage-up: Making sure your supervisors are doing their part so that your needs are being met and you are being supported in delivering upon your obligations to clients, colleagues, the media, business partners, etc.
  • Working with patient groups/other nonprofits on awareness-education programs funded by industry
  • Demonstrating a good understanding of how the print/broadcast/online media works and how to successfully pitch stories
  • Managing and directing outside vendors, where appropriate
  • Working with our media relations team and specialists to establish and building strong relationships with key trade and consumer media who are important to clients
  • Understanding new digital and social media and how to effectively use it to achieve client objectives in a regulated environment
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Joining a marketing/communications professional organization and/or a client industry trade organization and attending functions staged by these groups for the purpose of professional skills/knowledge development, company promotion and new business prospecting for Padilla
  • Teaching/mentoring other colleagues about the craft of communications and about the clients’ business/industry
  • Implementing all major client initiatives, including development and execution of digital and social media campaigns, public relations programs, budgets, timelines, media matrices for accounts


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Experience working with pharmaceutical clients and/or non-profit organizations a plus.
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Demonstrated desire for continuous learning
  • Three or more years’ experience working in a public relations agency
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Good time management skills
  • Three or more years of progressive professional experience in healthcare communications.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • One or more years of supervisory experience
