Job Description

Account Manager / Estimator


This role combines customer service and sales responsibilities. The primary focus is on building customer relationships, generating leads, delivering presentations, preparing estimates for bids, and fostering new and existing partnerships. The position specifically involves traffic control services (flaggers) equipment sales and rentals, and other related services.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Achieve or surpass annual sales targets for traffic control services, equipment sales, rentals, and other offerings.
  2. Manage and lead bidding and estimating activities for both public and private projects using various delivery methods. This includes estimating, pricing, researching, and quoting RFPs to secure new business.
  3. Proactively engage in business development through face-to-face meetings, networking, attending events, email outreach, and cold calling. This aims to expand revenue opportunities with new and existing accounts.
  4. Consult with customers, vendors, and internal teams to understand their equipment and solution needs, providing customized options.
  5. Review bid documents, specifications, and forms to determine project scope and schedule. Prepare bid documents and submit final proposals to general contractors.
  6. Serve as the main point of contact for bid-related correspondence with general contractors, from pre-bid meetings to pre-construction meetings, ensuring a smooth handover to the Project Management and Operations team.
  7. Maintain accurate activity and lead qualification information in the CRM system to ensure successful follow-through of the sales cycle.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in B2B sales, particularly in government procurement agencies.
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field, preferably in Construction Management, or 5-7 years of experience in Construction or Traffic Control.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and evaluative skills.
  • Ability to interpret traffic control plans and specifications.
  • Availability to travel up to 50% of the time within the assigned territory.


Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM tools.
  • Basic knowledge of bidding, costing, cost analysis, and margins.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build and develop customer relationships.
  • Confidence in engaging with potential and existing customers.
  • Superior sales instincts, self-motivation, persistence, and focus on achieving results.


Experience:

  • Familiarity with interacting with stakeholders in organizations with different functional roles and responsibilities (e.g., Project Managers, Estimators, Owners).
  • 5-7 years of proven business development and sales experience in the construction industry, preferably with a background in traffic control equipment and services.
