Under the supervision of the BOW Project Coordinator, this grant funded, term-limited position will be responsible for working collaboratively with staff to develop individualized plans that support professional development goals related to Peer Support for trainees.
- Implement a research –based, coordinated coaching strategy for staff.
- Analyze information, create and submit required reports.
- Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
- Use BOW Project vision, mission, and philosophy as a foundation for planning and implementing services.
- Participates in staff meetings, committees and training sessions.
- Assists in development of BOW Project training plan.
- Composes and proofreads correspondence and reports.
- Assists with effective strategies to help staff and trainees with employment related goals.
- Conducts test to assess trainee’s skills and abilities and provide feedback on results.
- Additional experience and/or a combination of education/experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
- Builds trust and maintain non-judgmental relationships with trainees and staff.
- Use skills to model appropriate practices with trainees.
- Maintains accurate records of all trainees.
- Identify trainee’s strengths and then advise on how to utilize those strengths in their employment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Psychology, Human Relations, Social Work or related field.
- Two (2) years of experience in a mentoring, coaching, teaching, or advising role.
- Facilitates and provides training, coaching and technical assistance with trainees.
- Engage in dialogue and problem solving using reflective inquiry, both individual and group.
- Provide information on suitable career opportunities based on the trainee skills, qualifications, interests and experiences.
- Knowledge of current approaches to teaching.
- Familiar working in Native American communities.
- Experience working with a diverse population and specific demographics.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
- Possess strong management skill and the ability to develop and implement programs based on individual trainee needs, establish goals, and plan activities to meet those stated goals.
- Resourceful and innovative in finding useful information.
- Excellent problem resolution skills.
- Working in a mentoring or advising role.
- Use of standard office equipment and technology, to include Microsoft Office products.
- Recognize weaknesses and develop plans to aid in personal and career growth.
- Flexible; have strong initiative; work with little supervision.
- Learn new ideas and skills.
- Organize ideas, time and materials to accomplish goals.
- Communicate ideas, advice, feedback and critiques professionally and concisely in individual and group settings.
