Works cooperatively with staff members to develop and implement effective educational programs and to deliver appropriate services to students.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Implements programs of study

  • Employs a variety of instructional strategies to augment achievement.
  • Adheres to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs assigned duties and is punctual with reports, grades, records and reporting to work.
  • Uses content scope and sequence in planning.
  • Follows established discipline procedures.
  • Communicates with parents and provides feedback on student work.
  • Meets professional responsibilities.
  • Follows confidentiality procedures regarding students, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members.
  • Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  • Monitors student progress toward mastery of instructional goals and objectives.
  • Utilizes instructional management systems models that increase student learning.
  • Provides an atmosphere conducive to learning consistent with the school mission.
  • Sets high positive expectations for student performance.
  • Encourages student attendance.
  • Demonstrates accurate and current knowledge in subject field.
  • Bases instruction on adopted curricula for the school.
  • Prepares and implements lesson plans to teach instructional objectives.
  • Provides curricula required by the City School district.

  • Establishes procedures and rules that enhance learning.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The School Social Worker is responsible for serving multiple schools addressing social and emotional needs that impact student learning.

They assist in developing attendance improvement plans with students and families to address barriers that may impact their school attendance.

The School Social Worker meets with students and families at school and in their homes to develop interventions, re-entry and short term counseling plans for students who have been referred for intervention.

The School Social Worker works in collaboration with the building administration, student support personnel, mental health agencies and community resources.

The School Social Worker provides crisis intervention during school emergencies and provides information to students and families regarding community resources and links them to community resources, as needed.

The School Social Worker maintains documentation and monitors attendance of students who are not attending regularly and may file truancy based on the Ohio Revised Code.

The School Social Worker adheres to the ethical standards of the National Association of Social Work (NASW) and the Ohio School Social Worker of America (OSSWA).


JOB QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:

School Social Work position is a district position and requires a LSW or LISW, a Masters degree in Social Work or related field, AND a School Social Work License through ODE. School Social Workers services students K-12.

These positions are assigned by the department director.
