Employment Type: This is a full-time, RN certified, 10-month position for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

Salary: The salary range for this role is between $55,010 - $63,291, and placement is based on professional experience.

Overview:
Valor Collegiate Academies is hiring a second School Nurse to serve scholars at Valor's three campuses (two middle schools and one high school). The School Nurse will provide expertise and oversight of school health services and promotion of health education.

Using clinical knowledge and judgment, the School Nurse provides health care to students and staff, performs health screenings, and coordinates referrals. The School Nurse serves as a liaison between school personnel, Metro Health, family, community, and healthcare providers to advocate for health care and a healthy school environment.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Other administrative duties, as needed
  • Document, coordinate, and track all health-related procedures occurring at the school
  • Order, inventory, and secure all health-related supplies and medications
  • Working with the Primary Nurse to ensure that student medical forms and student immunizations are up to date, and coordinating with parents to immunizations where necessary
  • Provide nursing and other generalized health services to Valor students
  • Working with Primary Nurse when instances of suspected abuse (medical, physical, sexual, other) are identified
  • Support the Primary Nurse with health-related tasks as needed
  • Provide precise and accurate communication to families, concerning any health-related issues

Qualifications & Experiences:

  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality and stay current with confidentiality requirements
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to collaborate with team members
  • Understanding of normal growth and development in youth, as well as experience working with students with special needs
  • Ability to use independent judgment and demonstrates initiative to act without being asked
  • Ability and willingness to learn and utilize technology especially as systems are upgraded
  • Previous professional experience in a school setting is preferred
  • Familiarity with Google Suite systems is preferred
  • Ability to learn and upgrade job skills in order to meet changing demands of the position
  • Ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism
  • Must have an active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee

Schedule:

  • Attend faculty Circles on Wednesdays from 3:50-4:40 PM.
  • Daily hours: Monday through Friday from 7:00-3:30 PM.
