Division of Systems Management and Planning

Coordinating and facilitating changes to budgets and proposals during final review and grant submission by MGB Research Management

Maintain familiarity with sponsor (e.g., NIH) and MGB Research Management policies and procedures

Requires B.S. degree in Accounting or Management. Masters preferred

Senior Grant Administrator (remote eligible) Radiology

Requires extensive knowledge of grants and contracts, research administration and Medical School and Hospital activities.

Support the grant proposal and reporting process throughout all stages of the research grant life cycle

Preference given to candidates with previous relevant experience in grants and contracts, finance, accounting, and/or direct fiscal management.

Perform account oversight and financial management activities: resolving fiscal variances, cost transfers, post-award modifications, reconciling invoices, and completing account closeouts.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Working knowledge or ability to quickly learn how to use JMU applications, such as PeopleSoft (Finance), Chrome River, eVA.

Experience in post-award research administration in higher education and/or research institution.

Ensure compliance with state, federal, and other sponsor requirements for documentation and record retention.

Minimum Qualifications & Transferable Skills

BA/S or equivalent experience in related field.

Demonstrated experience and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, financial reporting, accounting systems, budget development and administration is required.

Effective verbal and written communication, analytical, organizational and prioritization skills as well as presentation skills are necessary.

Employment overseas and experience working for an NGO with high levels of USAID funding is strongly preferred.

Perform periodic compliance monitoring of specific procedures or areas related to country operations.

Working knowledge of UAccess Research, Financials, and Analytics; and OMB Uniform Guidance.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.

Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.

Ability to communicate effectively with different groups of people, i.e., professors, scientists, administrators, and units outside of the department.

Ability to evaluate, understand, and improve upon Cayuse advantages and limitations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of MLA or APA writing format;

Monitors and provides fiduciary oversight to funded projects and maintains communication with contractors to ensure invoicing is up to date.

Performs cited literature reviews for use in response to RFPs and for use by City directors when compiling reports.

Assists Director of Philanthropy and Grants in tracking expenditures to ensure projects remain on target.

Provides reports to directors with strategies for effective and efficient spending.

Excellent interpersonal and management skills with facility to interact professionally at all levels

Planning and Workflow Management Skills:

Manage bi-annual effort certification reports for select PIs; review reports to ensure accuracy and consistency

Advanced Excel skills required; experience using other accounting or financial software helpful

Responsible for management of personnel records in Peoplesoft.

The candidate will be responsible for the oversight and management of $5 million of research related funding.

Bachelor’s degree in the fields of accounting, finance, or administration

MS Office to include Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Experience with the Adobe suite

1) Cover Letter detailing your directly related experience

Obtaining departmental approvals for submission to the HSC Sponsored Projects Office, and

Ensuring that research faculty is provided with the necessary laboratory space to conduct their research.

5+ years of related financial management experience (advanced education may count toward experience)

Excellent interpersonal and management skills with facility to interact professionally with both internal and external stakeholders

Advanced Excel skills required; experience using other accounting or financial software preferred

Draft and send gift acknowledgements; collaborate with members of Donor Relations team as appropriate

Assist in development and implementation of finance-related Program policies, procedures, and systems and revise as necessary

3+ years of grant administration experience preferred especially experience with NIH training grants
