Junior Power Systems Electrical Engineer Jobs

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge and experience with the National Electric Code for sizing and implementation of conductors, raceways, equipment clearances, and other code requirements.

Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Based programs required

Reviewing and vetting vendor proposals to ensure quoted equipment meets the project requirements

Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in electrical engineering is required

Maintain knowledge of current and emerging electrification technologies and equipment

7+ years professional experience in generation interconnection design, development, construction, and analysis

Field experience in substations and connection to high power loads, including troubleshooting, commissioning, and construction support

Experience with Medium and High Voltage standards and codes, including the NEC, NESC, ANSI and IEEE standards

Curious and creative. Inventor and innovation mindset. Experience in innovation projects and new product/process design is a plus.

Commands leadership and respect through knowledge and expertise in her/his functional area.

Designs and implements, configures and manages solutions within the following systems, products and services

Monitors and proactively manages supported products and services to assure their performance, availability, security, and capacity.

Researches, analyzes, and formulates recommendations regarding technologies, products, and solutions to fulfill requirements within option care.

Experience with data manipulation languages, such as SQL, required

Knowledge of statistical concepts and analytic techniques, including descriptive statistics, forecasting, economic modeling, exploratory analysis, and variance analysis required.

Experience using Microsoft Excel, including use of pivot tables, formulas, macros, vba, charts/graphs

Use Digital Engineering tools for technical baseline management; define and allocate design and test requirements for the GPS satellite payloads.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Previous experience with GPS or other satellite payload integration activities

* Maintain the site's Arc Flash Program in compliance with requirements.

* Coordinate switching operations and power outages with National Grid to minimize their impact on plant operations.

In-depth knowledge of power electronics components, such as power converters, inverters, and rectifiers.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems.

Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Strong proficiency in Altium Designer or similar software tools for schematic design and PCB layout.

Communicating tactical concepts across a wide range of employees; engineering peers to operational technicians to management.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical degree with 2+ years of experience.

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical degree with 1+ year of experience.

Maintenance, design, and/or operation of electrical switchgear, transformers, VFD's, diesel generators, static/rotary UPS, and low voltage distribution equipment.

Computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Help manage code repositories using Git.

Work within a Git environment to integrate work from scientists into workflows that meet government requirements.

1+ year(s) of experience working databases, software, git or related technologies.

Knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and processes.

Familiarity with Git and experience managing code repositories.

Experience with software integration and testing.

Must have hands on experience and deep understanding of power conversion principles, thermal management, magnetics design, power semiconductors and control theory.

KNOWLEDGE:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (masters preferred)

Designs, modifies and evaluates electronic circuitry, parts, and components for high voltage power supplies.

Conducts/ participates in technical design reviews in accordance with established NPI process.

Analyzes equipment to establish operating data and conducts experimental tests.

Prepares and maintains technical documentation for inclusion in manuals.

Prior field experience as an electrical helper or completion of an electrical training program preferred.

1+ years of experience with instrumentation power systems design, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation

1+ years of experience with basic low power systems and basic DC circuits and filters

Experience with one or more of the following electrical test equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies

Sound verbal and written communication skills

Experience working at a rocket launch facility and supporting launch campaigns

Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC)

0-2 years of relevant experience

Experience with MagicDraw/Cameo, Model-Based Systems Engineering, UML/SysML

Experience with Electro-optics and Infrared technology

Engineering design experience related to power systems

Power System Modelling Experience using SKM Power Tools, ETAP or similar modelling software

Experience with power system controls using SEL RTAC or similar automation platforms

Experience with 3D modeling and viewing software such as AutoCAD, CADWorx, Revit, and NavisWorks

Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.

Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.

Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows Server 2012 R2-2022 based environments.

Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Nutanix).

Experience with monitoring systems (LogicMonitor, SentryOne).

Experience with automation using PowerShell.

Interface with Enterprise Information Services (EIS) to identify and implement compliant, custom solutions for networked capabilities

Manage access authorization, background jobs, system performance across various levels of classification

Experience maintaining Unix and Linux servers and workstations

Knowledge in a multiuser environment, both as a developer and as a Linux administrator
