Overview of Crisis Support Crisis Support is a specialized field of social work that focuses on providing immediate assistance to individuals and families in crisis. Crisis Support workers provide emotional support, practical assistance, and resources to help people cope with difficult situations. They work with individuals, families, and communities to help them manage and resolve their crises. Detailed Job Description of Crisis Support Crisis Support workers provide direct support to individuals and families in crisis. They assess the situation, provide emotional support, and develop a plan of action to help the individual or family manage the crisis. Crisis Support workers also provide referrals to other services and resources, such as mental health services, housing, and financial assistance. They may also provide advocacy and support to help individuals and families access these services. Crisis Support workers may also provide education and training to individuals and families on how to manage their crises. Crisis Support Job Skills Required• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to assess and respond to crisis situations
• Knowledge of community resources and services
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Crisis Support Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
• Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred
• Certification in crisis intervention or related field preferred
• Previous experience working with individuals in crisis preferred

• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
• Knowledge of community resources and services
• Knowledge of mental health services
• Knowledge of housing and financial assistance programs
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations
Crisis Support Job Experience
• Previous experience working with individuals in crisis
• Previous experience working with diverse populations
• Previous experience working in a social service setting
Crisis Support Job Responsibilities
• Assess crisis situations and develop a plan of action
• Provide emotional support and practical assistance to individuals and families in crisis
• Refer individuals and families to appropriate services and resources
• Advocate for individuals and families to access services and resources
• Educate and train individuals and families on how to manage their crises
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of individuals and families in crisis
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of services provided
