Job Description

To assist in marketing the Psychiatric Department by behavioral health services. Provide psychiatric assessments and assist in the transfer of patients from the Emergency Department, Medical Units to The Psychiatric Department. Plan, organize and implement programs and services for adult psychiatric patients from the age of 18 yrs and older.

Position Qualifications:

  • Licensed or registered as a QMHP – A/C (Qualified Mental Health Profession preferred specializing with adult populations) by the state of Illinois Department of Regulations.
  • Must successfully complete CPR, CPI de-escalation behavioral management training. Candidate must meet eligibility for employment through successful criminal and central registry check
  • PsyD, PhD, Masters degree in human services or related field (social work, psychology, psychiatric rehabilitation, sociology, counseling, vocational rehabilitation, human services counseling or other degree training equivalent to those described) from an accredited college or experience working as a Crisis Worker in the Emergency Triage Department of a Free-Standing or Full Service Hospital 5-8 yrs or Specialized Training in Crisis Assessment and Management, Therapeutic and Intervention Management work experience and with at least one year of clinical experience providing direct services to individuals with a diagnosis of mental illness.

Job Type: Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Experience

Position Responsibilities

  • Implement safety plans based on client need to ensure safety in current environment.
  • Conduct counseling and treatment interventions for clients requesting crisis stabilization.
  • Provide intensive 1:1 therapeutic and behavioral support services to clients experiencing a crisis episode.
  • Link client/s to necessary outpatient treatment providers to include; outpatient counseling, outpatient medication management, group counseling, etc.
  • The client presents to the Emergency Department or other facilities as engaging in high risk or self-injurious behavior.
  • Develop a therapeutic relationship with clients that will encourage response in treatment.
  • Provide brief clinical assessment to high risk clients and trigger next step referrals when necessary.
  • Provide 24-hour emergency response as needed.
  • Patient is assessed as an imminent risk of danger to self or others hospitalization, homelessness, and/or lose of current. The patient is assessed as needing inpatient behavioral health treatment/services
  • Knowledge of counseling skills and techniques, mental health services, mental health agencies and mental health diagnosis.
