Youth Psychosocial Group Leader Assistant Jobs

Skilled in monitoring, mentoring and developing youth. Experience with low income students a plus.

1-2 years’ experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults in a residential program.

Strong organizational skills including skills in planning and multi-tasking.

High School diploma and some post-secondary work.

Flexibility, with ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a fast pace environment.

Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of integrity, as all MHS staff are considered to be role models for MHS students.

Assume a leadership role in directing, developing, monitoring and maintaining quality treatment services; provides direct supervision to the Youth Services Workers.

Conduct and participate in team, leadership, and performance meetings in accordance with policy/procedure; lead weekly youth group meetings.

Keep staff informed of significant behavioral conditions known about an individual and/or the group.

Transport and escort youth in everyday and emergency situations.

Performs other tasks as assigned.

Work 10-12 hours per week from September-June

Work 40 hours per week during BNC summer camps

Teach children about nature and the environment

Meet and work with people from the surrounding area

Degree in Counselling, Organisational Psychology, Psychology, Social Work, Business Studies, Project Management or other related fields.

Experience with data collection, statistical analysis, report writing and drafting reports and correspondence

Excellent presentation and written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent working knowledge of MS Office.

Knowledge of English and Spanish required. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese would be an asset.

Paid Education Time Off to obtain CEU’s and Licensure Reimbursement

Monday - Friday 7:30am-3:30pm; no weekends or on call responsibilities

Base hourly rate of $17.36 to $20.84; based on previous relevant experience.

As a Condition of Employment:

15 and 35 personal days

Creating and organizing activities for camp participants.

Assisting and participating in various activities including: arts and crafts, teambuilding, cooking, swimming, sports, and recreational pursuits.

Upholding camp policies and the safety of all participants.

Communicating with campers and parents/guardians in a professional manner.

All other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.

Group Leader Orientation: May 30th - June 2nd, 2023

Knowledgeable of KP and community resources.

Minimum two (2) years post-masters degree supervised social work experience in a clinical setting required.

For Psychiatry Department positions: Two (2) years of post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five (5) years required.

For Addiction Medicine Department positions: Two (2) years of post-graduate addiction medicine therapy experience within the last five (5) years required.

Knowledge of and ability to utilize current DSM nomenclature required.

Provides timely and appropriate assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment intervention of members.

Experience supporting youth of differing abilities, motivational levels and learning styles

Notify the YTP Administration of any problems and make recommendations to improve the student experience

Experience working with groups of children or teens in formal and informal learning settings

These are temporary staff positions with rates starting at $18.69 an hour.

Actively engage with youth and manage youth behavior through positive reinforcement, redirection, and progressive discipline.

CPR / First Aid certification (or obtained within six months of hire)

Lead activities and groups using creative and innovative curriculum.

Support students with virtual learning, e.g., helping youth login, support if there are questions, etc.

Flexibility to work in different program sites and age groups. Is a team player.

Works well independently and under pressure

Serves as the "group leader" in guiding the group interaction process.

Interacts critically and constructively with staff members to develop and implement successful treatment techniques.

Keeps staff informed of significant behavioral conditions known about an individual and/or the group.

Ability to work a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime; and the ability to respond to crises situations.
