All About You
Job Summary:
The Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness at Saint Louis University offers an eight-week summer youth camp to University affiliated families as well as children in the St. Louis region. It is our goal to stimulate the process of discovery by introducing campers to a variety of recreational activities designed for each age group and skill level. We hope to create a special atmosphere in which friendships can be formed and campers can express themselves and grow while creating lasting memories. Recreational activities include sports, swimming, cooking, arts and crafts, games, weekly field trips and team building around each week's theme. Our energetic and well-qualified staff, under the direction of the Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness, is comprised of professionals in recreation and education and students interested in those fields.

Duties:
The Group Leader/Camp Counselor plans, directs, and supervises his/her group activities on a daily basis under the instruction of the Camp Director. Group Leaders are expected to carry out programs in the various areas of concentration, which include:
  • All other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
  • Upholding camp policies and the safety of all participants.
  • Supervision of camp participants.
  • Assisting and participating in various activities including: arts and crafts, teambuilding, cooking, swimming, sports, and recreational pursuits.
  • Communicating with campers and parents/guardians in a professional manner.
  • Creating and organizing activities for camp participants.
Qualifications:
Background in Education, Recreation, Physical Education or related field.Experience in supervising and teaching groups of children in activity programs.
Camp Dates:
Group Leader Orientation: May 30th - June 2nd, 2023
Camp operates from the Simon Rec Center on Saint Louis University's campus Monday through Friday, starting Monday, June 5 through Friday, August 4, 2023 (No camp the week of July 3rd-7th, 2023 and no camp Monday, June 19th, 2023).
Full-time and part-time positions are available
Part-time staff supervise before care from 8:00am-9:30am and after care from 4:00pm-5:30pm Monday-Friday. They also help work all field trips, all-camp activities, barbecues, and sub in for full time staff when necessary.
