Supervise youth in all activities;

Maintain control of detained youth by giving directives, counseling and/or utilizing the appropriate level of verbal or physical de-escalation;

Write reports and prepare required records regarding incidents, youth movement and noteworthy information; and,

Supervise youth in all daily activities, such as: recreational, educational, hygiene, meals, visitation, life skills and spiritual services

Typical Youth Services Specialist I core responsibilities include:

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Counsel, discipline and physically restrain youth as needed.

Complete reports and daily logs.

Conduct inspections, security checks and searches.

Education and Work Experience/Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

Develop extensive knowledge of DDC products and services.

Supervise youth in all activities;

Maintain control of detained youth by giving directives, counseling and/or utilizing the appropriate level of verbal or physical de-escalation;

Minimum of one (1) year experience working with youth through paid positions for twelve (12) consecutive months.

Develop positive rapport with youth while serving as a role model to create a safe and caring environment.

Must assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.

Attend all organizational required trainings.

Be able to assist in the distribution of medications to youth as prescribed by Medical Provider.

Serve as a Substitute Teacher in the absence of the Teacher in a classroom setting.

Supervises and directs educational, recreational, intellectual, competency development, and pro-social activities for youth.

Provides support and education to parents/caregivers.

Knowledge of policies and procedures of receiving, releasing, and maintaining custody of youth residents.

Knowledge of adolescent behavior, brain development, inter-personal relations, and social/peer interaction.

Knowledge of supervising youth by overseeing daily activities such as recreation, treatment activities, meals, self-care, transportation or education.

Six months' experience in supervising youth by overseeing daily activities such as recreation, treatment activities, meals, self-care, transportation or education.

Two years’ experience in supervising youth by overseeing daily activities such as recreation, treatment activities, meals, self-care, transportation or education.

Knowledge of narrative report writing.

Six months' experience in maintaining the security and safety of individuals and facilities.

Six months' experience in narrative report writing.

Identifies needs and strengths of children; utilizes case management activities of providing, coordinating and facilitating needed services and interventions.

Basic principles of behavior management and modification for children.

Provides emotional and moral support; serves as a role model by exhibiting skills taught in program.

CPR and First Aid certification within six (6) months of date of employment.

Medicaid Provider certification within six (6) months of date of employment.

Provides on-going direct care, emotional nurturing and daily supervision of children ages 0-18 years.

Three years' experience in supervising youth by overseeing daily activities such as recreation, treatment activities, meals, self-care, transportation or education.

Three years' experience in maintaining the security and safety of individuals and facilities.

Three years' experience in narrative report writing.

Two years' experience in child and adolescent development.

Ability to effectively monitor safety and demonstrate group management skills and effectively de-escalate potentially chaotic or volatile situations.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a broad variety of people, including staff, supervisors and management.

Provides emergency first-aid, as needed, and must have and maintain standard first-aid/CPR certification.
