Previous Virology therapeutic area experience

Extensive laboratory experience, with preference given to diagnostic virology and/or serology laboratory experience Management and coordination skills

Team building skills and the ability to interact with a range of staff with various abilities and skills

Two years of experience in diagnostic medical biology/chemistry or related laboratory work, with preference in virology and serology

Experience supervising laboratory personnel and scheduling/coordinating work teams

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Degree field in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Life Science field

Ph.D. – 0-3 years; MS – 3-6 years; BS - 6-9 years

Collects and analyzes data for review by management, utilizing sophisticated spreadsheets and statistical analysis software.

Performs sample management timely and accurately.

Performs all work tasks following laboratory safety requirements.

Observes appropriate safety and study requirements by reading, understanding and following Standard Operating Procedures, Good Laboratory Practices requirements, and study protocols.

Effective verbal and written communication skills including correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Detail oriented; possess good planning and organizational skills; inquisitive; takes direction well.

Experience working with RNA viruses in mammalian cell culture; knowledge and/or experience with virus reverse genetics systems is a plus.

Propagate and maintain virus stocks (knowledge of virus reverse genetics systems a plus)

B.S. or M.S. in Virology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Cell Biology, or related scientific discipline with 2+ years of experience or

Extensive cell biology background with experience in tissue culture techniques and culture of primary and immortalized cells for ex vivo assays.

Knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as cloning, site-direct mutagenesis, DNA isolation and purification, RT-PCR, and qPCR.

Experience in recombinant virus generation and culture.

Communicate across the team and with senior management

Apply molecular biology skills to generate recombinant proteins and viruses

Experience in cell culture, viral propagation, and viral titration.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Hands-on experience with paramyxoviruses and coronaviruses

Experience in the handling/processing of clinical specimens
