The use of computer and maintenance management software systems

Complete recertification requirements set by IMSA to retain Signs & Pavement Markings Technician Level II certification.

Oversee, manage and complete field projects including roadway striping and signing operations.

Perform required maintenance of traffic functions depending on the requirements for any particular job.

Obtain Signs & Pavement Markings Technician Level II certification issued by IMSA within one year of employment

Work with computer software based on MS Windows to manage Inventory Systems

Knowledge of, or ability to learn, basic traffic laws.

Knowledge of specific safety procedures.

Skill in dealing effectively and courteously with students, co-workers, superiors, deputies and the general public.

Directs traffic at the assigned street or highway location and provides for a smooth traffic flow.

Reports violations of traffic laws.

Promotes positive public relations between the Sheriff’s Office and the community.

NOTE: DEPENDING ON QUALIFICATIONS (DOQ), POSITION LEVEL AND SALARY WILL BE BASED UPON EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered at all levels.

IMSA Traffic Signal Level I, Certification desired, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire date.

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in traffic signal and street lighting installation and maintenance.

IMSA Traffic Signal Level II, Certification, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire date.

Experience directing traffic is desirable, but not a requirement.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Skill in effective written and verbal communication as well as dealing diplomatically with the public and fellow employees.

Walk around the yard to direct yard traffic flows

Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic by providing manual direction to facilitate the flow of traffic in the transloading yard.

Set-up and remove traffic diversion devices, including; cones, signs, barricades, road flares and other related equipment.
