Technical Knowledge: Understanding of core shop capabilities including mathematics, trigonometry,

Perform lay-out, set-up, and inspections using the appropriate tool room machinist tools and QA

Experience or knowledge of world class production systems – i.e. Toyota Production System (TPS), General Motors Systems (GMS), or equivalent.

Maintain die PM system, including detailed work instructions and manage on schedule completion of PM activities

Class A automotive experience a strong asset

Previous work experience on interior or exterior body panels / large transfer dies

5+ years hands-on experience working in automotive die maintenance and repair

Experience in production and maintaining dies producing aluminum stamped panels is a plus

Job Summary & Job Duties

Build new stamping dies and rubber injection molds.

Participate in tooling and process design.

Troubleshoot tooling issues and maintain existing stamping dies and injection molds.

Document red line changes on tooling prints and communicate to engineering.

Perform other miscellaneous machining activities as needed.

3+ years of experience with CNC machining

Strong to expert level 3D CAD skills, including advanced surfacing and large assemblies

Experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing and scaling to high volume as part of a cross-functional team

Develop machining capability in-house for the tool & die team and deliver high-quality precision piece parts required to build internal tooling

Analyze piece parts and assemblies for DFM to ensure that the parts are optimized for manufacturing and assembly

Create collaborative business plans with design engineering, upstream production, and support teams and develop and maintain positive supplier/customer relationships.

Engineering degree, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional abilities

Work closely with the Tool & Die Launch Manager on tooling specifications, systems, and work processes within the automotive stamping environment.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Completion of a formal Tool and Die apprenticeship is required

Experience creating reports, analyses or reporting tools for management.

Manage concept, design, the scope of work development, and full implementation for Stamping Tool & Die processes and equipment.

Engineering degree or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional project / team leadership

Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written

Experience in managing or launching automotive stamping Tool & Die products

Develop and implement daily work logs/end of shift reports. Ensure these reports are passed on to the management staff.
