Requires at minimum an Associate degree and certification as a Medical Lab Technician

Prior supervisor experience managing several direct reports preferred

All specimens are processed promptly upon receipt in the laboratory or department; critical samples (Code/Trauma/Priority) are processed or collected immediately.

All specimens are handled or collected appropriately as stated in the procedure manual(s); specimens are stored properly.

Knows basic functions of LIS and how to use them; can trouble shoot problems using error log and multiple computer functions.

Must have a year of management experience

Monitor and follow daily pending report throughout day to ensure timely reporting of results meeting metrics mandated by Upper Management

Inspection/Audits/Surveys: Coordinate pre-inspection evaluations, post-inspection responses and interim-self inspections with lab management and staff.

The Technical Supervisor must have a year minimum LC-MS experience.

Four years of experience working in a high complexity laboratory

Assist in all lab areas as needed: answer calls, perform CLS duties in all departments, manage issues; resolve specimen integrity issues

Prior experience in laboratory or project management is desirable

The ideal candidate would have a masters degree plus 3 years experience or PhD in science, engineering, or computing-related field

Strong technical and experimental skills

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required

Building and maintaining experimental setups for behavioral testing and neural recordings and perturbations.

Establishing procedures for standardizing, monitoring and troubleshooting experimental setups, including animal subjects, surgical procedures, apparatus, etc.

Skilled in the operation of computers

Effective oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to competencies and minimum qualifications):

Tutor or mentor students, and assisting students in the lab

Obtain materials needed for classes, including texts and other materials

Ability to research technical issues

High school graduation or GED equivalent, and no experience required.

Assembles and operates standard laboratory equipment.

Collects and records data which may involve arithmetic computations.

Prepares standard reagents and culture media.

Examines experimentally infected laboratory animals to detect and record symptoms associated with variety of animal diseases.

Weighs, positions, and performs pre-operative shaving of animals.

6 months - 1 year experience in phlebotomy and/or specimen processing
