They are responsible for preparing the operating room, setting up surgical equipment, and providing assistance to the surgeon during the procedure. Detailed Job Description Surgical Techs are responsible for preparing the operating room for surgery, including setting up the sterile field, instruments, and equipment. They also help the surgeon during the procedure by passing instruments, providing suction, and helping to control bleeding. They may also be responsible for cleaning and sterilizing instruments, preparing patients for surgery, and helping to move patients to and from the operating room. Job Skills Required Surgical Techs must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure. They must also be able to follow instructions and work as part of a team. In addition, they must be able to work with a variety of medical equipment and instruments. Job Qualifications Surgical Techs must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and must complete an accredited surgical technology program.
