Required: High School Diploma, GED or higher level degree; College level Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Terminology Courses

Develops intermediate to advanced skills, knowledge and use of:

Specialized/technical training Successful completion of a Cancer Information Management Program recognized by the National Cancer Registrars Association

Performs case-abstracting tasks in accordance with applicable facility, State of California, Federal and CoC-accreditation requirements

Ability to multitask, possess good problem solving skills and attention to detail

Self-motivated to improve own knowledge and performance to sustain and enhance professional development

Attends local, regional or national employer-paid educational and training conferences as requested

Must have 3-5 years of Cancer Registry Experience. Can complete Complex Abstracts within 90 min.

• Demonstrates complete technical knowledge of all areas of the Cancer Registry, i.e., State of California reporting

requirements, ACoS requirements, SEER staging, TNM staging, Patient Care Evaluation (PCE), data collection and patient

• Must have a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

• Familiarity with and knowledge of computers, i.e., CNExT, spreadsheet and word processing programs.

• A knowledge of general principles of statistical computation is mandatory.
