You will be responsible for fabricating and assembling sheetmetal components and assemblies, as well as troubleshooting and repairing sheetmetal components. Overview A Sheetmetal Apprentice is a person who is in the process of learning the trade of sheet metal fabrication. They are typically employed by a sheet metal fabrication shop and work under the supervision of a journeyman or master sheet metal worker. The apprentice will learn the skills necessary to fabricate and install sheet metal products such as ductwork, roofing, siding, and other metal products. Detailed Job Description The Sheetmetal Apprentice is responsible for learning the trade of sheet metal fabrication. This includes learning how to read blueprints, measure and cut sheet metal, use hand and power tools, and install sheet metal products. The apprentice will also learn how to use welding and soldering equipment, as well as how to use a variety of other tools and machines. The apprentice will also learn how to inspect and test sheet metal products for quality assurance. Job Skills Required• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques
• Ability to use hand and power tools
• Ability to use welding and soldering equipment
• Ability to use a variety of other tools and machines
• Ability to inspect and test sheet metal products
• Ability to follow safety protocols
Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication is preferred
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques
• Knowledge of welding and soldering techniques
• Knowledge of safety protocols
• Knowledge of hand and power tools
Job Experience
• Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication is preferred
• Previous experience in welding and soldering is preferred
