Obtain and maintain certification in TJJD Use of Force techniques, which requires physical restraint of juveniles.

Obtain and maintain certification in First Aid and CPR.

Failure to maintain required certification will result in termination of employment.

One year of experience working in a children's services facility (volunteer experience and practicum or intern experience may be considered)

Ensure juveniles adhere to Juvenile Service Center rules and guidelines

Supervise recreational activities and assist with serving meals

Serve as role model for juveniles; encourage and assist juveniles in the practice of proper hygiene

Adhere to all laws (such as the Prison Rape Elimination Act), rules, and Center policies and procedures

Follow rules, regulations, and guidelines asset forth in the Centers manual and as directed by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent

Staff Development/Wellness Pay - Annual benefit allowances of up to $850 and ongoing education/training opportunities

One (1) year of full-time experience in a position equivalent or closely related to Juvenile Correctional Counselor II; and

Post-Retirement Health Reimbursement Arrangement - County contributions to help fund post-retirement employee health insurance/benefits

Effective communication and technical writing skills

Basic computer skills to utilize the Microsoft Office suite

Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.

Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.

Six months experience in narrative report writing.

Conducts individual and/or group counseling sessions with inmates/clients.

Current and valid certification as a Juvenile Correctional Officer by the Georgia Peace

Two or more years of experience working in a Juvenile Detention Center

May develop and implement security policies and procedures

Directs subordinate supervisors and staff

Supervises assigned correctional staff and ensures conformity with department and institutional security policies and procedures

Oversees and directs correctional staff in the transfer of offenders from one institution to another

Enforces rules, regulations, and state laws necessary for control and management of youth offenders and the maintenance of public safety.

Maintains knowledge of, comply with, and enforce all institutional policies, rules, procedures, and regulations.

Current and valid certification as a Juvenile Correctional Officer by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council

One or more years of experience in a Juvenile Justice environment

Supervises and plans work of assigned staff.

Completes administrative paperwork, the preparation and maintenance of records, forms, and reports.

One (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse, OR;

One (1) year of vocational nursing experience providing direct patient care in a correctional health care setting;

Demonstrate the practical and theoretical knowledge of nursing care specific to the assigned work area/specialty;

Collects, interprets, and documents data to determine whether incarcerated persons have physiological and/or psychosocial risk factors.

Records and reports assessment data and makes appropriate referrals.

Communicates and collaborates with physicians and allied health professionals in setting priorities for the care of patients.
