Education: Bachelor’s degree in GIS Analysis, Environmental Science, Geography, Surveying, Engineering or related field

Years of Related Experience: 3 years' experience in GIS career field

Experience with ESRI mapping tools

Experience with ArcGIS editing tools, shapefiles, personal/file geodatabases, geodatabase topology and editing in a SDE multi-user database

Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills

Proficiency with database programming languages such as SQL, R or Python

Served in the U.S. armed forces

Did not retire from military service

GIS Analyst I: $5,769 - $7,012 per month

GIS Analyst II: $6,368 - $7,740 per month

Geographic Information Systems Analyst I

Use of GPS equipment, software, collection techniques, attribute tables and data management

Skillfully use computerized mapping systems and the G.I.S. database.

Perform difficult drafting and mapping work with skill and accuracy.

Methods, practices, and procedures of GIS GPS, computer hardware and software.

Laws, rules, and regulations governing the development and maintenance of maps, address systems, and street names.

Nomenclature, symbols, methods, and practices used in property descriptions, map development, and drafting.

Complete project responsibilities and assignments efficiently and in accordance with District standards.

GIS Applications Developer I: Three (3) years of professional GIS development and administration experience supporting diverse and comprehensive geographic information systems.

I: Range 219 $48.38 - $60.25 Hourly; $8,385.87 - $10,443.33 Monthly

II: Range 222 $56.01 - $69.75 Hourly; $9,708.40 - $12,090.00 Monthly

Geographic information systems concepts and analytical techniques; including computerized mapping and attribute-data conversion, manipulation, and analysis.

Geographic information system database issues, including administration, development, operation, security, and quality control assurance.

Provides timely and accurate reports in support of management;

Identifies, evaluates and manages the department’s information system resources, such as hardware, software and future needs;

Works with other managers to integrate GIS and related technology into their work;

Maintains current knowledge and proficiency in the use of software, hardware and equipment required in the course of work;

Supervises and evaluates subordinate GIS staff;

Supervises supporting staff in the completion of special projects and reviews work to ensure compliance with existing policies and procedures;

Experience in technology project and program management

Prepares project status reports for management.

Time management: Ability to juggle multiple priorities and manage time efficiently.

Education/Training: Continuously learning/retaining advanced GIS and other relevant skillsets.

Masters degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geosciences, Geography or related area of study or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

The Senior GIS Analyst acts as a mentor and helps develop the skillsets of other GIS analysts on the team.
