Seasonal Park Maintenance Worker Jobs

Pick up loose trash and empty trash cans along pathways and pavilions. Empty and clean grills.

Loads and unloads soil, sand, mulch, stone, debris and other material from trucks.

Assists with small construction projects such as bench and sign repair and installation and tie-wall construction.

Properly relay field reports and updates to the public.

Assist recreation programs and special events with set-up and tear down.

Turn on sports field lights, monitor park activities and provide evening and weekend security.

Vacation Accrual Rate: San Joaquin County vacation accrual rate consistent with the candidate's total years of public service.

$2,000 upon completion of first year equivalent employment (2,080 hours)

$1,000 upon completion of third year equivalent employment (6,240 hours)

$3,000 upon completion of sixth year equivalent employment (12,480 hours)

Clean and maintains bus stop areas, parking lots, alleys, streets, sidewalks, medians, and vacant or abandoned buildings and properties;

Collects and removes garbage, debris, and weeds from throughout the community, Parks, and other City facilities;

Performs lawn maintenance, weed removal, and sprinkler maintenance;

Verifies City property and environmental cleanliness will meet city safety codes and standards;

Operates tractors, power hand tools, and other machinery/equipment to remove weeds, branches, and other unsightly material;

Boards, fences, and secures abandoned buildings to discourage illegal entry into unsafe areas;

Conducts inventory of tools, small equipment and supplies and submits recommendations to supervisor for ordering these materials;

Answers patron inquiries concerning park information and resolves patron complaints in the field;

Operates light trucks, dump and garbage trucks, snowplows, passenger vehicles, tractors, ride-on mowers and other equipment as required;

Loads, moves, carries or unloads materials of varying weights and sizes as necessary;

Operate chain saw; willing to receive “Game of Logging 1, 2, & 3”, First Aid, CPR and AED training;

Assists in coordinating and executing recreation events conducted at the park;

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

Assists in the training of less experienced workers.

Equipment capabilities, limitations, and safe operating characteristics; and

Semi-skilled and skilled landscape construction and maintenance tasks;

Methods, materials and equipment used in grounds maintenance, pest control, construction, maintenance and repair of parks, trees, facilities and irrigation systems;

Operation, maintenance, and repair of tools and equipment used in grounds maintenance and caretaking;

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that will have provided the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

General knowledge of the principles and practices of park and natural resource management.

Two years’ experience involving facilities maintenance including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding or in horticulture, park management, or natural resources, or

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the standard practices used in the building maintenance trades.

Knowledge of standard practices used in landscaping and grounds keeping.

Knowledge, Skill, and Work Experience Required:

Preventative maintenance and/or grounds experience preferred.

Basic computation skills including measuring, calculating and estimating.

Clean parks of debris and trash. Paint indoor and outdoor facilities. Dig and maintain garden sites.

Prepare fields for soccer, baseball, and other outdoor sports.

Load and unloads equipment for daily use.

PARK MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT - PERMANENT INTERMITTENT/ CAPITAL DISTRICT / FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT / OPERATION SERVICES

State housing is not available.

Must possess demonstrable knowledge in use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook for e-mail is preferred

Reviewing and processing picnic permits for the park once approved by the permit’s office.

Performing cash audits and being audited when working the register to check for counterfeit bills and cash draw accuracy.

Making copies and typing up postings or flyers to inform patrons of any park events or changes.

Interacting with patrons to resolve questions, distribute information, and provide excellent customer service.

Distributing the park mail that is delivered by UPS or private mail carrier.

Manages efficiencies – develops task time standards and establishes time management best practices and completion rates

Prepares budget for management approval

Post Offer Pre-employment Screening Requirements

Creates training plans for Park Maintenance personnel; ensures required personnel certifications are in good standing and/or renewed in a timely manner

Microsoft Office suite, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook

Manage tasks and deadlines in an organized and professional manner

Manages minor maintenance and construction projects including ordering supplies and equipment and scheduling resources and completing as directed.

Provides lead direction over a small field crew in grounds and landscape maintenance; provides input to employee evaluations;

Inspects assigned parks to identify hazards and maintenance needs on a routine basis; ensures maintenance is completed on schedule;

Maintains and repairs water well pumps and associated equipment;

Provides routine maintenance of small equipment by changing oil, replacing belts, blades and keeping all vehicles and equipment clean; and

Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a valid state-issued driver's license and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy. WORK EXPERIENCE:

General working knowledge of turf or lawn care.

Skills in operating small equipment such as weed-eater, chain saw, lawn mower, and hand tools.

Knowledge of safe handling of small power tools and equipment.

Ability to work evenings and weekends. Physical Abilities:

Supervise the work of others. Physical Requirements

Repair, maintain and install park equipment including picnic tables, benches, signs, and related fixtures;

Assist crews in set-up for special events including moveable bleachers, staging and sound equipment, props and other equipment;

Operate trucks, backhoes, tractors, forklifts, jackhammers and otherconstruction equipment as required;

Supervise the work of temporary employees making repairs at various locations on the route;

Maintainvehicles and equipment as required;

Knowledge of risk management, OSHA and MSDS

An education in the trades and 7+ years of experience in facilities and/or residential building maintenance

As a Maintenance Manager, your primary responsibilities include:

Dedicating time to hiring, developing and providing on-the-job and classroom education opportunities to techs and community care associates

3+ years of supervisory experience and a track record of hiring, developing and retaining high performing teams

An HVAC, EPA and/or NAPE certification

Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies and procedures including use of personal protective equipment.
