Registered Nurse Urgent Care Jobs in Texas

Utilizes evidence-based approaches with patients/families/caregivers to support self-management, self-efficacy, and health-promoting behavior change

Uses clinical knowledge and skills to teach patients/significant others effectively (e.g., via written information, face-to-face communication, phone communication)

Notifies Patient Care Manager or designee whenever leaving CareMount Medical premises during scheduled work hours

Offers clinical advice to CareMount Medical patients according to departmental protocols, individual physician’s or other provider’s instructions, and/or accepted nursing practice

Integrates patient and family education, including health promotion/wellness, into the delivery of care

Continuously evaluates the results of patient education and modifies the teaching plan based on patient outcomes

Facilitates staff education activities (i.e. orientation, competency, skill reviews, mandatory in-servicing).

Assists with management functions on unit.

Demonstrates knowledge of procedure done in this area and is able to assist physician as indicated.

Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation in in-services and/or continuing education programs.

Manages daily operations within budget parameters.

Experience in occupational medicine and urgent care is preferred.

Certification by one of the Nurse Practitioner certifying bodies (ANCC or AANP) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

2+ years of experience working independently as a Nurse Practitioner

DOT certification (or ability to obtain within the first 60 days of employment)

Clinical experience working as a provider in an emergency medicine or urgent care setting

Open 8am- 8pm, 7 days per week

Providers typically work 12 hour shifts

Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON)

Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a nurse practitioner clinical area of specialization by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON)

Performs individualized history and physical examinations for diverse populations inclusive of social determinants of health.

Manages common acute problems in accordance with standardized procedures, and collaborates with physician in management of more complex or chronic problems.

Active participation in the Quality Management Program, Utilization Review, Peer Review, AltaMed Medical Provider activities, and AltaMed's On-call schedule.

Completed training in the diagnosis and management of common as well as some complex medical conditions.

Certification as an Adult/Family/Pediatric/Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.

Previous experience with computer based systems required; Electronic Medical records experience preferred.

Provides medical services to clients.

Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment, required mandatory education, population specific education.

Preferred National certification in area of specialty

Experience with direct patient care. Preferred

Additional specialty experience may be required.

ACLS certification may be required within 6 months of employment for some settings Required

BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association

Remaining knowledgeable in pediatric pharmacology

Prior experience and competency with nursing procedures (not limited to, IV placement, urinary straight catheterization, and medication administration)

Pediatric Emergency Room, Pediatric Hospital Unit or Pediatrics Urgent Care experience preferred

Basic Life Support certification is required and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification is a plus

Administering oral, rectal, intramuscular and intravenous medications

Performing pediatric venipuncture, IV insertion, and maintenance

Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS)certification or ability to obtain at the time of hire

Pediatric advanced life support (PALS) certification or ability to obtain at the time of hire

1+ years of experience working as a Registered Nurse

2+ years of experience working as a Registered Nurse

Experience in an ambulatory care setting and/or specialty areas

Schedule: 3 shifts per week
