3+ years of relevant work experience in a laboratory

Experience working in a laboratory, within a public health laboratory specifically is preferred

Experience in Electronic Test Orders and Results (ETOR), such as HL7 orders and results

Knowledge of common laboratory processes, workflows, and data elements, with Newborn Screening specifically is preferred

Knowledge of project management systems and application of project management software.

Knowledge of the rules, procedures, and principles that govern intramural and extramural program development, monitoring, and evaluation.

Minimum three (3) or more years of experience in public health, health sciences research, program evaluation, and performance measurement.

Must have experience utilizing and managing CDC Administrative Systems (HUMAN SUBJECTS, OMB AND IRB, and E-Clearance) efficiently and effectively.

Previous experience maintaining official documents and records within the federal government.

Previous experience working with government procedures and guidelines.

Demonstrated knowledge of data management including data capture, data cleaning, data storage and archiving, data analysis, data visualization and data interpretation.

Experience collaborating with and providing data management support to multi-disciplinary teams.

Receive datasets and plan and conduct data cleaning and documentation of issues in consultation with project management staff

Provide development and review of data management sections of manuscripts and protocols

Masters’ degree or higher in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Epidemiology, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience

Experience with analytical approaches, statistical methodology, statistical analysis, SAS/R programming, or mathematical modeling.

Valued Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Assess training needs of laboratory personnel and participate in regular in-service training and appropriate education on laboratory safety and testing procedures.

Receive, sort and distribute specimens to appropriate laboratories/laboratory sections.

Assess specimens for acceptability for testing.

Report test results using a laboratory information system (LIS).

Provide consultation regarding the appropriateness of testing ordered and the interpretation of test results.

Some knowledge in program monitoring procedures, business management principles, fiscal management practices.

Responds to COVID-19, 317 Adult, and Vaccines for Children providers’ questions that relate to vaccine management.

Ability to prepare reports, apply basic business management theories and principles.

Conducts quality compliance visits to assess COVID-19, 317 Adult, and Vaccines for Children (VFC) providers adherence to program requirements.

Some knowledgeable on public health issues and programs.

Experience writing code in either applied educational or professional projects using Python is required.

Strong verbal and written communications skills in English with the demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts to a lay audience.

Experience with transformer architecture and associated software (e.g., PyTorch, Tensorflow) is preferred.

Natural language processing experience, particularly in the biological and medical domains, preferred.

Experience using distributed computing technologies preferred.

Experience creating informative visualizations for complex, high dimensional data preferred.

This series covers positions managing, supervising, leading, and/or performing administrative and management work.

All grades for the 1301 series have a positive education requirement that must be met.

Provide administrative support to the Director of the Utah Public Health Lab and other staff within the Lab

Possess and maintain a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card.

Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Driver's License.

Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's License.
