An employee in this position must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities upon application:

Mainframe computers and their general database abilities (Query).

Knowledge of personal computer spreadsheet software programs. (Microsoft Office)

An employee in this position must meet the following physical requirements upon application:

Assist the general public with the tax roll, map books, real and personal property records.

Answer telephone, assist general public inquiries, directing calls to other departments as needed.

Working knowledge of business correspondence formats, data collection methods, record keeping, report preparation, filing methods, and records management techniques.

An employee in this position must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities upon application:

Complies with NV Rev Stat § 361.221 (2013) requirement to obtain Nevada Property Tax Appraiser Certification.

Studies the Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS), Nevada Administrative Code (NAC), appraisal theory, and methods of appraisal in preparation for certification.

Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends, techniques, and legal developments in tax appraisal.

No experience required. 1 year experience applying principles of property valuations preferred

Attends training, seminars, workshops, etc., as required to enhance or maintain job knowledge and skills.

Performs computer data entry to establish, maintain and update property appraisal records; maintains database.

Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Requires at least one (1) year of work experience.

Measures new construction and lists property characteristics.

Calculates square footage on new construction.

Other combinations of education and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis.

Two years of post-secondary education in business, accounting, economics, public administration, construction technology or training; and

One year of job-related experience.

Preferred work experience includes appraisal, property tax appraisal, assessment, auditing, agriculture, forestry, surveying, real estate, or related field.

Experience listing and measuring real property improvements.

Experience utilizing computer software and hardware to collect and analyze real property data.

Experience performing mass appraisal and/or single property appraisals.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of appraising real property.

Knowledge of the IAAO Standard on Mass Appraisal of Real Property.

Prepares documentation. processes paperwork and performs computer data entry. conducts audits to assure accuracy of records.

Knowledge of Windows Operating System

Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.

To manage multiple high-priority assignments and develop solutions to challenging problems.

Two (2) years experience in real estate sales or a related field preferred, or

Records appraisal information on standardized report forms and on computer.

Preferred Qualifications are examples of experience and education considered to be highly desirable by hiring agencies.

Experience performing mathematical calculations in a financial setting (e.g., tax assessment, collections, insurance adjustment, real estate appraisal, banks).

Experience resolving conflicts with individuals related to financial/accounting matters (i.e., public or private sector).

Experience drafting written correspondences to communicate information to miscellaneous parties.

Knowledge of field inspection procedures and techniques.

Knowledge of the methods and practices of personal property appraisal.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

Specific License or Certification Required:

Inventories materials and equipment to ensure adequate supply levels.

Operates tools and equipment required for troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems.

Assists customers as needed with initial or refresher training in conducting fire drills.

Processes work orders and documentation to keep track of work processed.

Certification as FMP-Facility Management Professional or CFM-Certified Facility Manager

Experience using a work order management system, creating, assigning and closing orders.

Experience preparing, maintaining and analyzing contract requirements and managing the accounts payable aspects of assigned contractors.

Experience in planning and implementing major renovation and remodeling projects such as elevator and infrastructure upgrades.

Two years’ experience property taxation: assessment, appraisal, or auditing is preferred

Principles, practices, methods and requirements of private sector business accounting and personal property auditing and generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
